OK, so here's a silly question.
Making a two-player 8-way-stick, 7-button, tball, spinner control panel. Should p1 go on the left or right? Ordinarily I'd say left, but tball/spinner games would almost naturally have left-hand on tball (I'm right-handed) and right hand on the right-hand buttons (which would be p2's buttons)
Of course, it doesn't REALLY matter because it's all reassignable, but since I have a set of red controls and blue controls I'd like 'em to line up in Gauntlet. Which is still reassignable, I know...
Basically, it's a survey. Do most people have p1 on the left or right?

I think most everyone puts Player 1 on the left.
-
It's got to be on the left, it wouldn't seem right on the right.
-
I have p1 on the left because for all fighters, player one always starts on the left side of the screen.
-
Got to be left.

Got to be left.
Seems like the consensus, all right. I said it was a silly question... Makes sense to me too, just wanted to make sure before finalizing everything.
Almost everything's in place, just have to wait four more days for my T-molding (if I really trusted myself, I'd slot the boards blind and assemble everything, but I just don't wanna slot the boards without a piece of T-molding to fit in place and make sure it's all well).

As long as you make sure its in the middle, you'll be fine. I know what you mean tho, it's certainly nice to be sure on these things ;)

go left

there is only one game that I know that P1 is on right and p2 on left.....................and that is Wizard of Wor.

Hmmm, I've always found it more comfortable to play TB games with my right hand and joystick games with the left. Have you tried playing TB games with your right?

Haven't tried it, actually--I always go left hand on tball, right hand on buttons. No idea why.
Matters not--I laid out the thing today, laminating the top (1/2" particleboard + 1/4" leftover Pergo for the first draft--I'll add a nice graphic/lexan sometime later). Player 1 on left.
Grrr, can't wait for that T-molding to get here (grin).

Most games have player 1 on the left but there are several games with player 1 on the right.
I don't have player 1 on any specific side. At least 90% of all games are single player games so in my cabinet the default setting is that both joysticks/buttons control both players. Then I can use any joystick/button combination to play most games and players don't need to move around when changing turn.

The only game I ever saw that had the player 1 on the right was Wizard of Wor.
But if it's your cab and your money, do what you think is best. If you want Left, then you make it left.
you can always change the configuration if you don't like it!
