Update 11-15-04
SOLD OUT. Thanks everyone. If you still need tokens, check out the MAME tokens in my sig.
Dave
-------------------------------
I am accepting orders for the Custom BYOAC Tokens that we discussed here (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=19141). They are .984" solid brass Tokens, approximately the size of a US quarter and look like this:
Here is our original rendering. Check the sticky thread in the artwork forum (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=13;action=display;threadid=19172) if you want more details on how we arrived at the design.

Disclaimers:
Be sure to read the prohibitions, observations, and restrictions list below the table. Note that it is possible that the postal agencies might think that your shipment contains coins (which are prohibited by many countries,) so do not be surprised if the package has been opened and inspected when you get it.
That is what I have been able to determine as the process and costs. I have never shipped internationally before so if I stumble across any unanticipated charges I reserve the right to request payment for any unforseen expenses. (of course you will have the right to refuse and request a refund if you do not agree to the new charges.) [/color]
These tokens should be usable in many quarter mechs with minor adjustments, but I do not guarantee this. It is your responsibility to consult the documentation for your mechs or ask in the forums before ordering. Some good information is in this post. (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=19141;start=40) Here is how I did mine. (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=22251) Please don't email asking me how to do it see these threads.
If your personal check bounces, you will have to pay any charges I incurred because of it. I will not hesitate to make public the identity and/or nick of any persons not acting in good faith in this respect.

I will take PayPal, but only from your checking acct. No Credit/Debit PayPal payments can be accepted!!!! Please send Paypal Payments to tokens@santoro.com.
I will also take checks or Money Orders.
How would international buyers pay?
-
Drop me an email with where you live and I will look into it.
-
Damn. Oh well, if you ever decide to change your PayPal account to accept credit card then let me know. :'(
-
Anyone with Credit Card processing capabilities want to be a reseller?
Edit: Also, you might be able to get a money order with a credit card.
-

Paypal lets you set up two accounts (despite what the rumor is). You can upgrade a second account and the credit card people can pay there... just make sure that the people paying with credit card pay more to cover the fees (like $0.35 + 2.6% or something like that).
-
Is that legal? I am pretty sure it isn't legal for merchants to pass through Credit card charges directly to customers in the US.
-
It's not legal in the US, no. Check your PM.
-
If anyone can set up a way to pay by card, then I guess I'm in. Sucks that they'd charge extra just for CC abilities. I wonder if there's a reason, or if it's just because they can.
-

It is the credit card companies, they charge a percentage af the transaction as a fee.
-
What some merchants do to get around this is offer a "cash discount" when you pay with cash or debit cards.
-

Actually I believe the no surcharge law expired in 1984, however, these states have banned surcharges with state laws.
California
Colorado
Connecticut
Florida
Kansas
Maine
Massachusetts
New York
Oklahoma
Texas
Visa and MC regulations prohibit surcharges and Amex doesn't explicitly prohibit, but it discourages it and prohibits it when a merchant accepts Visa and MC as well to keep entry barriers from affecting their business.
But as already stated, the loophole is to offer a discount for cash.
-
I have a merchant Paypal account and can accept credit cards.
-
Just throwing this out: If you really really wanted to pay by credit card you can buy a money order by credit card through www.payingfast.com. I have done this in the past and it worked great. Registration is free, but for the $43.50 tokens/shipping, it would cost an extra $3.95 to use their service.
-
I have my checking account hooked up to paypal so it's not a problem, but I just want to make sure I understand.
If I have a paypal account & transfer $$ to you AND take the funds from my credit card, then YOU get charged?
-

I would have to have a Paypal Merchant account to take that payment (which I don't) and yes, they would deduct ~3% of the sale. That's why lots of small businesses don't like taking credit cards. It is net-net, the same as me getting paid with a credit card.
-
Just a note that Tilz pointed out to me that the USPS is a better bargain in shipping than UPS. Since no one had sent money yet, I have lowered the shipping to $6.50.
-
I can accept Pay Pal credit card payments for Santoro via my PayPal merchant account. I get charged a fee by paypals for this, which is directly passed on to you (merchant account has fees for getting money)
The fee you need to send is
43.51 USD send payments to tilzs@hotmail.com
Be carefull however, if you don't need to send a credit card payment, send your paypal directly to Santoro. My merchant account has a fee if you use a credit card or not so tokens will cost you 43.51 if you send money though me.
-
I'll send you a payment once I make a deposit, I don't have enough in my account right now.
-
That's the one thing I despise about using PayPal. If you have a premiere or merchant account, you get stuck with a fee regardless of where the funds came from. Credit card, existing funds or bank funds.
I know they've got to make money, but come one, they're making money on the interest from holding the funds, as well as credit card transactions.
-
So it's only $2 extra to use a card if I send it to Tilzs, and he'll send the funds for the tokens? That doesn't sound too bad I guess.
Though I have another question that I don't think was answered before. Is this the set price, or could it be cheaper if we get enough preorders? (Ya know, like a bulk discount. I don't know whether the coins will be sent from someplace, or sent to Santoro and he sends them out later. I guess the second one, but wanna be sure.) Also, if a single person orders more than one batch, would it be any cheaper (shipping or otherwise)? Thanks for any info.

That's how we are getting the low price we are. I am buying at least 5000, then distributing to the group.
-
I've got a question... the first run of tokens will cover the cost of the dies?, right?
Then after the first run, I imagine that the dies remain at the mint, but who owns them?
Like if I wanted to do my own run of 5000 tokens in 6 months and use the dies is that fair game??
:-\
-
Ok, that's what I guessed Santoro. But again, if a single person (like myself) decides they're good enough to order more than one set, can we save on shipping or something? I'm not sure if I'd really need 2 sets, but I'll ask anyway in case I wanna convert more of my quarter stash for whatever reason.
-
Honestly, no. I don't have the time for haggling on each of these orders. There are going to be 25-50 of them. No offense or anything, but we are talking about buck or so max you might save.
-
Like if I wanted to do my own run of 5000 tokens in 6 months and use the dies is that fair game??
The mint holds the dies for the buyer (in this case me.) Business-wise, I could not make the dies available to anyone else untill all of my Tokens are gone, lest someone else produces a batch and competes. I would have been screwed for trying to help out the group.
I think the fair thing would be to allow key people to use them (the winning artists, Saint, me) after the original batch sells.
I can't make them available to everyone because I would need to be on the phone with the mint every other day giving permission for someone to order their lot of 1000. To give you an idea of how much of a problem this will be, six people have asked for access to the dies today alone.
And frankly, I don't think giving an opinion or two in a thread entitles anyone to use them. I think that should be reserved for the people who worked hard on them.

PayingFast.com is BELLY UP. They tried to auction their business + domain name on eBay and got nowhere. They are closed to accepting new orders.
The only one left is www.BidPay.com , now called Western Union Auction Payments. (Which causes confusion when on every "contact member" email on ebay states "NEVER pay for an item with Western Union Money Grams" so buyers think you're trying to scam them sending them to WUAuctionPayments.
Anyway, BidPay was first, PayingFast tried to compete then went belly up, and now it's back to just BidPay.
I have accepted over 90 payments from BidPay in the last 3 years and only 10 or so from PayingFast.
BidPay is a great service. Puts the convience charge of credit card on the BUYER and not the SELLER.

Pre-orders have reopened. Thanks for your patience!

Got my 3 sets ordered! Cheers!

Good to see the credit card payments were settled. I still need to figure out the shipping costs though.
I picked "Package" and then "Netherlands" + 3 pounds, from the USPS international calculator (http://ircalc.usps.gov/) and got a list of methods and prices ranging from $5 to $53). I guess USPS Airmail Parcel Post at $17.50 would apply best?
-
I want 100 and 100. Still haven't made a depost yet, but I should be able to get to it soon.
-
Just placed my order! Thanks to Santoro for organizing all of this, and thanks to Chris and Pixelhugger for your great artwork!
-
Ordered -- can't wait to see them! :)
-
Ordered 4 sets.
(and 5 coin mechs from happs, and reject insert labels, a coin box for my cab, and...well, you get the picture $$)
I hope this becomes an annual tradition.

Looks like it. I just checked both UPS and FedEx, and their cheapest options are about $60. Yeesh.
-
I've never had any problems with getting stuff to Australia with USPS and they tend to be cheaper. I usually go for EMS as it's generally only a buck or two more expensive. In my case 6lb (2 sets) to Australia is just over $40.
-
just ordered a set of each metal. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish I knew how to say "We Design Therefore We Am" in latin

This is probably fine. Let me go down to the post office today and double-check that that is the best way to do it. I have never shipped internationally before and I want to be sure. I will post here after I speak to them.

If you get enough orders, won't the price go down to reflect the bulk rates? According to Hoffman's prices, if you get 25 orders of 200 tokens, the price goes down to $13.80 for a set.

We're doing custom work on both sides, with stippling and (for part of the order) nickel plating. Stippling and plating have extra charges. The minimum order for all that is 15,000 tokens, so that's 75 orders just to meet the minimum.

I stand corrected. Where can I take a look at the final designs?
-
Just sent my pre-order in for 2 sets. One of each metal (brass/nickle)
:D :D :D

Where can I take a look at the final designs?
Final designs? You give us too much credit. :)
Please note as you look at these that line weights, font sizes, and other small details are still being tweaked for technical issues.
The final design (by Pixelhugger) we actually agreed upon for the obverse (front) is:
However, there have been some recent concerns over the presence of a geometric form on this design that some may choose to interpret as Pac-Man. Since the folks at Namco are on the litigous side, we may need to change to the runner-up design, which is:
The latest version of the reverse looks like this: (Yeah, my mockups don't look nearly as nice as Pixelhuggers)
When looking at these, remember that the final product is just under an inch across. ;D
(EDIT: Spelling)
-
Daddy like! I'll be putting in an order as soon as my fiancee/financee splurges some money on something that I see as a needless waste! ;D
-
Maybe in the long term you need to worry about namco... if this was going to be a real business. This particular endeavor is not a business.
While technically stepping on copyright, I don't see this as a major issue at this point.
-

???
We are ordering from Tokens Direct. And you need to consider tax, shipping of the tokens to me, cost of cutting dies, etc.
-
Ordered, and thanks again!
-
No offense to the creator of the second design but I definitely like the first design better.
Not be a bum... well ok... to be a bum..... I really don't have an interest in getting 200 of these and I'm happy with my 25c coin acceptor. I would, however love to get just one of each of the two kinds of token from someone. I can give a couple bucks to anyone willing to part from a couple. So as to give this hijack back, PM me to let me know. Thanks.
-
For now I'm not actually planning on using them in my machines, but I just wanted to have some. I think what I'm going to do is whenever somebody new comes over and flips out over my cab, I'm going to send them home with one of these as a sort of party favor. I think my friends will get a kick out of it.

I'll probably be handing a lot of these out. With the URL on them, I'm sure Saint will be too.
Hey, Saint, as a form of marketing, you should play a few of these at Chuck E. Cheeses to get them into circulation... :)

Haha terrific!
Not sure if this has been mentioned or not but you know what I'd love to see? Get someone to take the final design and paint and enamel some of those suckers up and sell em as collectors. You know like they do with the new quarters that come out! That would be too sweet!
-
Since they only cost 20.5 cents each, you make almost five cents on each game! Unfortunately, you've got to go to Chuck E Cheese to do it.

You gotta use the brass ones, though... the nickel plated ones will be too easy to spot.
-
That's the idea... someone will spot it and say "what the ..." and then look at it.... BINGO !!!! ;D
Next thing you know, they are surfing around to BYOAC and then they are hooked by the Arcade Bug !!
Instant advertising! ;)

But if they're too easy to spot, the Chuck E. Cheese employees will take them out of circulation.

Chris, check your PM.

No offense to the creator of the second design but I definitely like the first design better.
Because its been blinged. ;) When seen binged side by blinged side they're perfect compliments.

For those who haven't noticed, "close to final" designs have been added to the first post in this thread.
-
I just put in my order for 200 nickle plated tokens. I'll very likely be ordering another set after I see them in person.
Thanks again for making this happen.

just sent my payment in the mail for 100 brass/100 nickel! cant wait to get them! ;D ;D

So what's the status? Are there enough yet?
-
So what's the status? Are there enough yet?
Yes, I am going to place the order. It might take a little longer than I thought to sell them all, but I am pretty sure I will. I suppose it would be a good thing to make this clear in the first post.
Thanks
-
Daddy like! I'll be putting in an order as soon as my fiancee/financee splurges some money on something that I see as a needless waste! ;D
I just noticed this post and laughed. This is how it works in my house too. If my wife splurges on something I have a 2-3 day window where I can run out and get a toy that I have been wanting because I know she would not dare make an issue of it.
Seeing it in writing, it occurs to me that it problably would appear a little childish to some, but it is what it is. :)

You're lucky. I have to wait until she blows money on 5 or 6 things before I get one...
She may be coming around, though... she wanted to buy me one of those gumball machines where the gumballs drop into a little baseball game for my game room...

I just ordered a set of 200 brass tokens...
This is just a heads up to everyone ordering through tilzs@hotmail.com
be careful typing in tilzs paypal account name as I think someone set up an recent account in the hopes of people mis-spelling tilzs name.
I forgot to put the "s" in tilzs account name and it pulled up an recently created un-verified account on paypal, so I rechecked my spelling and noticed my mistake.
I've seen people do this with other accounts in the hopes that you send money to them by mistake.
MORAL of this story.
PAY ATTENTION AND MAKE SURE YOU TYPE IN CORRECT ACCOUNT NAME!
-

Wow, that's just sad.
I will make a note in the main thread warning folks.
-
Well I don't know if it's a scammer, I'd put my money on that it is just some guy with a paypal account. For years there has been a guy with the email address tilz@hotmail.com (mine is tilzs@hotmail.com). I've had people tell me that I never respond to their emails but it ends up they were never sending it to me in the first place.
Be sure to spell it right or it's not going to get to me. Copy/paste is your friend.

Hey All. New member to the BYOAC newsgroups. I am in the planning stages to build a Mame cabinet to go along with my Asteroids/Tempest machines. I've found a lot of great ideas and help here just by going through the forums.
Anyway, I saw the BYOAC tokens and had to pick up a full set of Brass and Nickel. They look great. A perfect addition my my growing gameroom.
Talk to everyone soon. ;D

Photos will follow once I get things in order. Promise. It's actually more of a game corner than a gameroom - but it is growing (much to my wife's chagrin.) One day it will inhabit it's own space - most likely above the garage whenever I get around to finishing it.

If you just mark the little green sticker as "gift" or "comercial sample" no.

Doesn't the buyer pay those? I just got a customs bill for Ultimarc.
-

Yes, the buyer typically pays custom charges. You can call it a gift to avoid or lower the custom charges depending on the country. Technically this would be illegal, as you would be not quite telling the truth on the customs form, but I doubt anyone will come knocking on your door.
-
OK, thanks for the info Santoro. I put in an order for 200 brass tokens paid by credit card (sent to Tilzs). I hope I did everything right (total amount $58.01)
I didn't select any "forms" during shipping. I didn't have a clue what those numbers meant and the default was "none" so I just went with that.
-
Thanks for the international info. I have ordered 200 of each color/finish to be sent to Australia and paid into Tilzs' PayPal account by credit card.
As for customs (in Australia) as long as the value is under $250 (via shipping/courier companies, I think it's $400 via regular mail services) and the item is labelled gift there are no customs charges. If they are chargeable then they are paid by the receiver of the goods (I had this with my last Ultimarc order also).

Just ordered the 100 brass / 100 nickel super combo deal!
Someone should make a cheap video infomercial for these, like you see for those tacky coins on TV - but wait, there's more! Act now and get this fine hand-painted porcelein teddy bear! Yours to keep!
Maybe you should mail them out with a 'Certificate of Authenticity' ?

Just wait for Kevin Steele's review. I can see it now...
"The tokens are nice and round and shiny on both sides. The dentils are a nice addition to the back side of the coin. When inserted into the coin slot, the token falls through the mechs as it should, and a credit is registered. I personally "tested" 500 coins while playing Robotron, and only 1 token was rejected. Overall, I give these tokens my highest recommendation." ;)
-
Somehow I knew I was getting pulled into this as soon as I saw the words "cheap video infomercial" ::)
Truth be told, I'm planning on doing a video about setting up a MAME cab for token operation once I get my sets.
I'll try and make it as cheesy as you'd like. ;)

What can I say, the Stingray moniker appears to be getting quite popular. Cars, fish, the occasional bad scifi movie reference...
Glad to meet you.

Just to stake my claim, this has been my online name since 1996. Oh and I had the car in mind, not that I have anything against cheesy sci-fi or flat fish. ;D

I gave up my "online name" years ago when I started doing more "professional" type stuff on the net. For years, however, I was known as "Star Klutz"... ::)

1982. Atari 800 Computer with 300bd modem. ;D You can check the Fidonet archives if you want, but they date back only to the late eighties I believe.
Also, the car - 1967 black. Secondary, the big fish I see when diving.
Regardless, nice to see another Stingray in the house.

Beats me. I started in '84 with a Commodore 64.

Order passed to Tilzs... I'll wait patiently
But it's going to be hard !!! ;D ;D

Money: sent.
I win. I got my moniker at birth in 1971

So are they ordered Santoro? It's like waiting for Christmas to arrive. Whuhahahee tokens is a comin! :D

A status report:
I am just a few orders short of the break-even point so barring problems I should be placing the order today. :)
The "Happy Guy" side is complete, and Pixelhugger plans on sending me the final artwork for the Atomic side today - providing he can speak to the engraver. He has cleaned up the Atomic side a bit and enlarged the font a little. I am sure he will post the "blinged" final design as soon as he is through.

You win. In 1982 I was 12. Closest thing I had to a computer was an Atari 2600.
In 1982, I was 4 (for all but 15 days or so). I was programming in BASIC and playing Hunt The Wumpus and Car Wars on my grandfather's TI-99/4A.
-
Pixel and I spoke to a different engraver today at length and this one signalled that there is a lot more flexibility in depths than we previously thought.
Because of this Pixel is going to take the weekend and see how he can tweak it using this new ability. The token should be nicer because of it, so it will be well worth the slight delay.
The order is in and the mint now has the money, so there is no going back! We hope to send in the final artwork in on Monday or Tuesday, and to have another quick call with the engraver early in the week to be sure everything is in order before he goes to work cutting the dies.
-
They are .984" solid brass Tokens, approximately the size of a US quarter.
To start, I am accepting orders for lots of 200 Tokens only.
so will they will work in the 25c coin mechs i am thinking about ordering?
i really don't need as many as 200 (they're just for operating my only cab) - can't you really send less? it would help to keep the international shipping cost down as well. Why not lots of 50 or 100 as well?
v.cool design!
-

No. They are slightly larger than a quarter. Many 25c mechs can be modified to work with tokens, though.
In fact, I'm getting my hands on some new Happ mechs that I can convert to take both quarters and these tokens, if anyone's interested. I should have at least four pairs that will probably go for $20 a pair shipped in the US. These would be about $35 shipped from Happs... anyone interested in these?
--Chris
-
mp2526 has coin mechs that work with that token size and quarters also for only 6 bucks each! I already got mine and for a little additional charge he rigged them up with micro switches so the coin reject works as a credit button! I got the rigged up coin mechs for around 21 bucks shipped!! I have them installed and they work great, can't wait till I get these awesome tokens. ;D ;D
-
I've read this entire thread, and I'm still not sure when these tokens will begin shipping. Anyone have that info for a blind man like me???

You should get them 4-6 weeks after we sumbit the artwork. I expect that to be today but it could slip a few days if Pixelhugger is really busy.

Out of curiosity, how many tokens are left that are NOT purchased at the moment with this first order? I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to break it to my wife that I want another 200... ;D

I just told my wife from the beginning that the minimum order was 400. :)

There are quite a few (like thousands) of tokens in each color not spoken for. Orders have slowed, so you have some time.
It is possible that there will be a second buying wave when the 'reviews' come in, so I would order in the next 3-4 weeks if possible.

Okay, I was indeed able to get 4 pairs of mechs, and it cost me less than I thought to get them shipped, so I'll be able to get them out at $15 a pair shipped. These are brand-new Happ Ultimechs, as seen at http://www.happcontrols.com/coindoors/42307900.htm .

-
Chris, I just got a used Happ Over/under coin door off Ebay. is there any way of knowing if these mechs will fit it???
-
Coin mechs are standard, and since these are Happ mechs they should fit perfectly. For my older Coin Controls door, I had to cut off the plastic studs and put smaller screws in their place.
--Chris
-
Now for the crucial question, are .984 tokens standard? In other words, are the new BYOAC tokens the only ones that will fit these mechs? Oh, actually i just realized that you said you'd customize these new mechs so that they accept Quarters and .984 tokens! Right? That makes life better!!!

They will take .984 tokens and quarters. I cannot guarantee they will ONLY take .984's and quarters, so I would not use them in a commercial environment.

well let me know if the batch quantity goes down Id be interested in something like 50 but I cant afford 200, maybe when you sell more who knows
-
Maybe this isn't an original idea, but has anyone thought about drilling a couple small recesses into your CP to display the front/back of these amazing tokens?
Similarly, supersize the BYOAC picture and where the start button is, cut it out and insert one of the tokens.
-
I just sent you money via PayPal for a mixed set of tokens.
-
So, has anyone recieved their tokens yet?
Is there a picture of the acctual tokens and not just the "bling'd" drawings? If not, would someone be so kind as to take a decent quality pic with a quarter or something for reference?
-
Back up the truck!
I just got the final art from Pixel last night and I am sending it in today. That means I won't have the tokens in my possesion until about 2 weeks. Figure it will take another week or week and a half to ship all of them.
I would estimate the best case to be 3 1/2 weeks and the worst case to be 5 before anyone gets them.
Just so everyone knows.
(I will scan photos and post them as soon as I get them.)
Dave

Oooooohh, I hadn't realized that they haven't even been minted yet... Don't I feel like an ass. :P

Can I reserve an order for brass?...Paypal won't be able to make it until the 15th though...is that cool?
-

No need to worry - there are more than enough. They aren't going to sell by the 15th - at the current rate they won't be gone by October 15th. (Though I have broken even with the number of orders rec'd.)
-
Oooooohh, I hadn't realized that they haven't even been minted yet... Don't I feel like an ass. :P
No problem, it could also be that I didn't communicate these facts properly...

I wish I knew how to say "We Design Therefore We Am" in latin
designas ergo sumus
I think that's what it is :)
Maybe I will place an order for these, they look really cool.
-
Yeah I will be making an order on the 15th as well ;D
-
I was curious what mint is doing the tokens? I am asking in case I want to get some custom tokens done for home. (I probably will after I build the 2nd cab.)
-

It's Tokensdirect.com.
-
The mint has sent me the paper mockup of the tokens, and the look exactly like the artwork we submitted. They are going to overnight me a lead proof (sample token stamped in lead) tonight. As soon as I verify that it looks good, I will give the go-ahead.
I will also scan and post the sample when I get it so we can all 'ooo and aaahh' at it while we wait.
After that, it should be no more than a few weeks before I have them in my hands. It will probably take my wife and I another week to get all of the orders shipped.
-
Dang.
My wife just called and told me that the lead token 'prototype' just showed up. I won't be home for another 7 hours. :'(
She said it looks really good.
Stay tuned.

Oooh ooooh oooh! Can't wait to see it!

Patience, Grasshopper. All will be revealed in time...
(and if you don't post pics the minute you get home, I'm going to be seriously torqued off! :P)

But apparently she doesn't know how to use the digital camera ;D
-
Be patient... only 5 hours to go! :)
-
Here it is. I think it came out really clean.
A few notes
-The pictures don't show it due to shadows from the scanner light, but the text is super-crisp.
-They will obviously be cut smaller, the lead samples were only intended to show the art, not the edges. The dentils on happyguy side will be added later.
I will mess around with a digital camera to see if I can get a better picture, the scans don't do them justice. They really do look clean.
-
Happy Guy
-
Here are a few hi-res digicam pics that give a better feel.
These are over 1MB each!!!
{edit - had to remove these to save bandwith}
-
The B in BYOAC looks like it's got something wrong going on. It'a like it's not flat, if you see what I mean. Is that just some discoloration of the lead, or can you actually feel the contour?
Otherwise, fricking cool. I can't wait.
-
Not sure how I missed that one.
It is there for sure, but in real life it isn't very visble unless you catch it in the right light. But it is worth getting fixed. I will send the photo to the engraver tonight.
-
I just checked the source files... it's not in our originals.
It looks as if we lost some height variations. The front originally had four different height levels, but it looks like the lead coin has only three. Not a big deal, of course; I'm sure we're being much bigger perfectionists and a much bigger pain than their regular clients. But it would be nice to get the B fixed.
On the other hand, the back looks exactly like the original art with the exception of the dentils, right down to the slightly 3-d look of the joystick...
Very exciting!

Looking closer, I see similar marks on the Y and A. I doubt any of the raised marks would be visible at all on an actual token at actual size, though...
--Chris
-
It is noticeable in certain light and not noticeable in other light.
I sent a note to the mint, if they aren't willing to admit a problem, I would be OK with it the way it is. Remember the hi-res pictures are super-sized. It isn't a big deal even when you can see it at quarter-size.
I would like to see if they can fix it though. We'll see what they say.
-
The respnse from the mint is that thhe marks we saw were machine tool marks and they have been stoned out. (Thanks Kremmet for pointing this out.)
I should have a new lead proof by tomorrow.
-
Looks great! I'm getting excited to see the real thing!

It's coming along nicely I see. I'm still not so keen on the textured areas though.
-

Same here. The coin looks awesome, but I dont think the stipple effect adds much to it. (<--- he,he... he said stipple...)
-- Android
-
FWIW, in real life/actual size the stipple gives contrast to the 'shiny' parts we want highlighted and looks pretty nice.
I agree that it is not super attractive when viewed close-up in a 1MB jpeg though.
-
I just looked at the high res pictures and I see the sample is a "positive sample". From the small pictures it looked like a "negative" one (high being shown as low). Weird :P . Is that the lighting of the scanner or am I just "dumb" and did I miss somewhere that you got two samples?
I have to say I'm happy you guys managed to get some different depths into the design. It really adds to quality of the image (I think).
Can't wait (well I guess I'll have to, but still) for the real ones to arrive ...
-

These are pictures of the exact same lead proofs. The smaller scanned ones do look a little wierd, which is why I wanted to post the digital snapshots as well.
The 2nd hi-res picture is most representative of how the depths will look.
-
First off - these are super cool! I would love to have these, but I'm going to have to say no. I WOULD however like to buy a few from someone who does order them. I'll pay $2.00 for 4 Brass tokens - to simply keep as a souvenier/collectors item. With postage included - by my calculations you stand to make a $1.20 profit! Woohoo!
If anyone wants to part with 4 of their 200 tokens, please PM me! Thanks. ;D
-
OK here is the cleaned up proof.
<<edit: link removed to save bandwidth>>
It is still very slightly visible if you look closely for it but it is nowhere near as bad as it was.
Please remember that the blown-up photos greatly exaggerate this minor issue. You need to study the token in order to see it under normal conditions.
I am going to approve this one because I am worried that if they grind the die any further the B will start to be mis-shapen.

I still see the marks, but with the softer edge to them I think they're actually a benefit, adding a bit of contour. Very nice job by our engraver!
Is this a brass proof this time, or is there some color wierdness with the camera?

I had the same thought when I first saw them...

These proofs are a little cleaner (like less dirt) than the others. The lighting probably accounts for the difference.
-
I can hardly wait to get mine... ;D
-
I'm suprised they got the contour as far down as they did! They did a great job! I'll throw a "me too" for approving. Besides, as much use as these get, they'll be so dirty you'll never notice it anyway. :)
-
I think these look great!
-
Will there be dentils on the Player 1 side. If so, how is this done?
-
Will there be dentils on the Player 1 side. If so, how is this done?
Yes, there will be dentils; since dentils are a fairly standard feature, they're probably part of the press (is that the right word?) holding the die rather than part of the die itself.
-
What is the status of the coins? I placed an order and am a little impatient!!
Thanks
-
I'm dying here too. :D
I expect them to arrive any day. I promise to post as soon as I hear a word.

Email from TokensDirect:

HI,
The plain brass shipped yesterday and the plated ones will ship next Tuesday.
thanks,

Sounds like the brass-only orders will ship first.

Doh.
That's what I get for ordering the silver. =)
I'm having a MAME party on July 30th, any chance I'll have my tokens by then? Sounds like you for sure will have them, but just curious. Also, if I decide (read: weasel the money) to get another set, would it be cheaper for you to ship it all together? Or does it matter?
-
Ooh, sounds like we're getting close to getting some tokens!
-S
-
WOOO HOOO!!!!!!!!!
The Brass Tokens have arrived at my house!!!! :D
Unfortunatley I am far, far away from my house in a drab building on Wall Street >:(
My wife says they came out really well! :D
I should be home at 6:30PM EST. I will post pics the minute I get home and I imagine most/all of the brass-only orders will go out this week. :D
Thanks for your patience. I know it took much longer than we had hoped to actually get the tokens.
-
Santoro, are you still taking orders? I'm a bit of a procrastinator... :D
thanks,

I am slightly annoyed that the forgot the dentils on Chris's side. (This despite a form letter I got with the lead proofs that the border will be completed when the coins are minted. When Pixel and I were on the phone the engraver indicated that the dentils would be 'part of the border.'
I still think they look really good. I will also resize the pics for those of us that are bandwidth-challenged.
{edit: and I will get a clearer shot of the happy guy side.)

I am sure you will get them, barring some weird circumstance. As for US shipping, I did an average cost assuming some people ordered multi-sets, so I can't offer a shipping discount. Sorry.
-
GOLD!!!!

Almost an hour from the first pics and nothing from the peanut gallery? ??? :)

Hey, how did you guess? ;)
Actually I got out of work late - today of all days.

Almost an hour from the first pics and nothing from the peanut gallery? ??? :)
I was sitting here waiting for the pics for a couple hours... I finally had to leave for the pharmacy apparently minutes before you posted the pics!
I am also a bit disappointed at the lack of dentils... it's not that dentils are so spectacular, but the spacing of the text looks completely wrong without them. And since the dentils are part of the collar, they would not have been on your proof and there was no way for you to catch their error.
That said, they still look great, and I am looking forward to them! Very nice!
You should modify the first post of this thread to include actual photos instead of mockups...

Heh... it's really hard to get nice pics of shiny objects, isn't it? :)
Set them up under bright light and disable your flash. Don't take them at too much of an angle or the far side will be out of focus....

At least let Tokens Direct know that you are upset about the missing dentils. Maybe they will give you a new set or maybe a price break. Can't hurt to ask.
Regardless, I'm pretty excited.
Edited to add...
The more I look at the pictures, the more I'm convinced that stippling was the right thing to do.

Really? I hope it is the bad pictures that make the stippling look so bad then. It looks like the atomic artwork is sinking in the mud. It's hard to even make out the electron trails.
Odd that they would forget the dentils. Now the design is changed to have the dentils and then there are no dentils :o Allthough I feel it does make the design look cleaner when you have some extra white (or is that brass?) space.
Anyway, good to see they are there.
-

No, in person it makes all the difference. It is impossible for an amateur to take good pictures of these things.
Dave

I was a bit worried about that myself, but I'll take Santoro's word that they look good in person. We lowered the depth of the electron trails to make the electrons stand out more, and I don't think we were thinking of how close they would be to the stippling...
On a side note, my daughter saw the token and asked, "Why are there two electrons on each orbit? Shouldn't there only be one?" She just turned ten. TEN. I'm so proud... <sniff>

The extra space isn't horrible, but if they would have said we couldn't have dentils I would have moved the text a bit farther from the circle.
It's worth noting, however, that I've looked at a lot of arcade tokens lately... I have several at home. None are as complex or as detailed as ours, and ours looks much sharper! The guys at TokensDirect really did a bang-up job on these; they're far better than the Hoffman Mint ones many arcades use, and a bit sharper than the Roger Williams Mint. I am very impressed, and that's from the photos; as Santoro says, I'm sure they're even better in person.

-
Hey, personal opinion still counts. Patrickl might still hate the stippling when he gets his tokens. My point was just that some of the pictures do make it look somewhat ugly, when in person I think:
1) it looks nice
2) it looks more like real coinage somehow because of the added detail. These are almost as detailed as NYC subway tokens used to be. (look at the tokens below and how boringly simple they are!)
3) the stippling brings out the graphic elements and makes them more prominent than they would be if they were against an identical background.
It's all personal preference, however. Some might not like it in the end.
[oh , and our stippling is much more subtle than that shown below.]
-
OK, only one more photo, I promise. This partial photo shows best how the stipple looks in real life.
-
i really don't need as many as 200 (they're just for operating my only cab) - can't you really send less? Why not lots of 50 or 100 as well?
I agree. I *really* have no need for 200 tokens, but I'd be willing to pay a higher per coin amount for smaller lot sizes. Something like $12 for 50 - $20 for 100 + shipping of course.
I don't have a machine yet, so justifying 200 tokens is a little hard :-)

I hear you guys, but I don't really like the idea of 50 because there is a very small and specialized market here, and it will take forever to sell these if everyone was able to buy 50.
I am toying with the idea of 10-lots though. Those that buy ten are buying for souvenir value, not for cab use and probably wouldn't have bought any 200 lots anyway. No problem there.
Trust me though 200 isn't a lot of tokens. 200 tokens (in a baggie) fit in my hand!
-
Santoro, why don'y you put 50 in a bag, 200 in a bag and 400 in a bag and take a picture so people can visualize the size of a batch? I ordered 400... I could easily see my daughter and her friends plowing through 200, and I don't want to be constantly emptying the coin door. (I can also see my daughter and her friends pocketing oner here and there, playing with them, etc., so I wanted to be prepared for attrition.)
A bag of 200 costs less than an IPac, doesn't it? :)

The Brass-only orders went out yesterday! Shipping will probably start Friday or Saturday for the rest on a first-in first-out basis.

My cab doesn't use tokens, but I would love a lot of ten. I'd also be happy with just one silver and one brass. But that won't move tokens very quickly.

If you want a "sampler" of ten tokens, I'm going to be giving away 5 sets of 10 brass BYOAC tokens each day this week as part of the RetroBlast giveaways (you'll also get a MAME bumper sticker):
http://retroblast.com (http://retroblast.com)
I'm also planning on including some tokens with each of the other prizes I ship out.
Kevin
-
So when does the shipping commence? I can hardly wait... ;)
The Brass-only orders went out yesterday! Shipping will probably start Friday or Saturday for the rest on a first-in first-out basis.
How about orders that were half and half? Are you shipping them seperatly or together?
-
Those will go out when the Nickel tokens arrive. I didn't price 2x shipping into my prices.
Dave
-
FYI. Shipping has been raised by $1.25 for future US orders. A much larger proportion of my orders were coming from distant western states than I had imagined originally. This increase is reflected in the first post. Those who ordered before today are OK.

Just got the tokens today:
It is indeed hard to get a good shot of these bright, shiny objects!
They look great!
(Look for a 100% larger review on RetroBlast: "They Look Really, Really, Really Great!") ::)

Don't tempt me...

You need to do a jukebox review... after I finish DOSCab/WinCab 3.0, of course... :)
-
Wow, I just received my tokens today, They look great!!!
I want to thank everyone involved in this project, you guys did a fantastic job, extra special thanks go to Santoro for keeping everything organized and keeping the project on track!
Okay, now how about those MAME coins!!!!! ;D
JerryDel
-
Wow that was fast, I've got mine already. Sometimes transatlantic shipping can be quite fast 8)
I have to agree that the stippling is not so bad when you look at the actual coin, but still I think I'd rather have at least the BYOAC side without the stippling ;D (it's a bit cluttered now)
Also, it seems the player 1 guy on the BYOAC side shouldn't have had seperate arms and legs. The details are apparently too small for the mint (at least for negative imprints). Might be something to keep in mind in a future run. I'm amazed about the detail in these coins though. It's impressive that the artists' initials can be read so easily.
Anyway these coins are amazingly cool. Everyone seem to think I'm a dork for having "my own" coins, but hey, they must just be jealous ::) Thanks a lot for all the hard work!
-
hey i know how you feel. i told my older brother my tokens will be coming in soon, and he says "you have tokens as well *rolls eyes*". yeah im a dork i guess, but ive been called worse ;D. plus, id take the positive comments like "oh man, thats awesome!" and "you are a friggin genious! howd you build that??"....over "you are such a dork" any day!
-
Got my tokens! Woo hoo! 8)
These things look great in person. But whoever posted that 200 coins really isn't that many... you're right. I may need to order some more... ;D

200 tokens is equivalent to 5 of these rolls:

OK, as promised. Here is a comparison of the token counts. I have included a few items for scale.

Is it just me, or are the dentils missing from that banana?

Oh, sure, leave it to the Joymonkey to notice something wrong with the banana! ::)
"I'd like the banana-sized bag please..."
Kevin
-
Well, I just broke down and ordered 200 nickel tokens to go with my 200 brass ones. I knew I would do this! :)
-
Just receive my Tokens lastnight and they are GREAT. Now the wife has proof I'm crazy.
I took a couple to work this morning and one of the guys is a coin collector. He begged to buy one off of me for his collection. Seems he collects tokens also. He says that the detail on these are far superior to any other token he has ever seen.
P.S. I did part with one of the tokens when he raised his offer to $1.00 for one token. Now I can tell the wife I'm going to make a profit on this hobby. ;D

My wife has been oddly supportive of the whole token thing. I really believed that she's see it as a pointless waste since the coin returns are already wired for coin action. She must be getting ready to spend a lot of money.... :o
-
My wife has been supportive too. As a matter of fact, she has actually been the Business Manager for this whole thing, tracking orders, packing and shipping tokens, and generally oveseeing things. (She caught the fact that I was under-recovering for the shipping earlier.)
My daughter has done most of the counting, and there is a mind-numbing lot of it. I just built her a 'guage' to speed the process.
My free time has been non-existent lately and none of the orders would be out yet if it weren't for them.
Thanks Leslie and Emily! :-*
-
OK, the Nickel Tokens arrived. 8)
We will start shipping ASAP, in first-in first-out order. We are short on Priority Mail shipping boxes (we ordered them last week) so not all orders will ship right away. Most of the earlier orders should ship in the next day or two.
I will also try to get new pics out tonight, tomorrow latest.
{Edit: Pretty cool that this was my 600th post. I had about 200 for the seven months before this token adventure.}

woohoo!!! to be honest i totally forgot that i ordered these until about 2 weeks ago. of course i was getting married so i had other things on my mind ::) but anyway, the pics look great and i cant wait to try them out on my mechs! oh and im using TheNasty's mechs...they work great!
-
Here are the nickel ones. They look even better than the brass.
-
Unfortunately the nickel tokens are even more difficult to photograph. I probably won't have time until the weekend to get better pictures for the first post in this thread.
-
I took the photo above late last night (after some good-natured prodding from Chris :) ) but looking today I think that once again they don't do the tokens justice.
The nickel tokens are very bright and shiny - even more so than the brass ones. In the photo above they look sort of washed out and almost golded-toned. This is not how they look in real life. Imagine a
bright, shiny, new quarter, and IMHO they look nicer than even than that.
-
Ooooh! Ahhhh! I'm so glad I ordered the plated ones!

Bummer. I knew this was going to happen. The arrival of the 50/50 token order I sent in will perfectly coincide with the departure date of my vacation. >:(
Oh well. I should have a surprise in the mailbox when I come home. :D

Just got my order of brass and nickel plates tokens! They look great, and work perfectly with the cheapo quarter mech I have!
Here's a better photo of the nickel plated ones:

Here's one of Pixel's side:

Wow, how did you do that? Great pics!

Wow, how did you do that? Great pics!
I put the tokens on a window sill in full daylight and used a 4MP Minolta camera in macro mode without flash. The photo's don't reflect how shiny they are, but you can see the huge amount of detail!
Thanks again Santoro!
-
i know a lot of people have already recieved their tokens. i havent yet, but im being patient ;D however, im just wondering....when should i start to worry if theyve been sent out? by the end of this week? end of next week?
-
If you are in the US, I would start to worry on Wednesday. If you are in the East you will probably get them today or tomorrow.
Every order shipped USPS priority mail by Saturday, except for my one Australian customer whose order had to go another way because it was too heavy for priority mail. That one could take a week or so.
-
cool, i live in nashville, TN. so ill look for it today and tomorrow!
-
I live in Cleveland, OH and just got mine today:
I really am surprised how much I like the nickel ones. Very shiny!
I may have to put in another nickel-only order...
Kevin
-
Got mine in Oklahoma Saturday. Shiny, shiny nickle plated! They look too good to use!
-S
-
I got my 100 of each in the mail today and they look soooo great!!!!!
-
ok Santoro, where is the promo "Every 200 gets a free banana"? ;D
-
I got mine today too. Sweet. Only problem...looks like somebody had put them all in a big pile and rolled around naked in them before packaging them up and shipping them off ::)
-

I don't even want to know how you could tell that...
Santoro,
I really appreciate the speed at which your daughter and wife got the orders out!! I would like to thank them so much!
-
I got mine yesterday, yeah!!! ;D
Thanks to all involved in designing these. A special thanks to Santoro for driving this thing and his family for going through the hassle of getting these things mailed out to everyone!
Very much appreciated!
-
Got mine yesterday as well. SantorA says thanks SantorO. They look great.
And we're even both from jersey...
-
I am glad everyone seems to like their tokens. They came out better than I had hoped. I am especially happy with the nickel tokens. They are very money-like.
Now to wrap things up a little bit.
Once again, I want to extend my sincere thanks to Chris and Pixelhugger for thier public artistic support and private decision support for this effort. We were a great team, and the finished product shows it. Thanks guys.
I also want to thank the providers of all the great designs and feedback in the Token Design thread. (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=13;action=display;threadid=19172) This was a really fun collaboration. It was a bit rocky at times, but I think we managed to make almost everyone happy. I also get some personal satisfaction that it was the most popular thread in BYOAC history. Why can't I pick stocks this well? :)
Thanks to TILZS for making it possible for credit card users to participate!
Once again thanks to my wife Leslie and daughter Emily who did all of the management and shipping of the orders. You all would have have recieved your orders around November if I had to find the free time to do all that.
Thanks to my entire family includng my sons Ben and Zack for putting up with my obsessing over arcade machines and tokens for 3 months. You guys rule.
And finally thanks to Saint for all the obvious reasons. :-)
A few months ago I said I wouldn't do this again, but seeing how these came out I might reconsider. Let's talk about it in May, shall we? ;)
-
Just received mine and Wow these came out nice!
Thanks Leslie and Emily for the speedy delivery :-*
I have forgetten that 400 tokens doesn't look like a lot. Been a long time since I dumped $70-80 at Funspot back in the day. What was it again, 120 tokens for $20 (6 per $)? I may have to order up another batch...
Well off to dump all these into my pocket and reminisce of the days when I was King of Funspot with my shorts falling off...
edit - Good speller I'm not
-
except for my one Australian customer whose order had to go another way because it was too heavy for priority mail. That one could take a week or so.
That would be me, yay!!! Whenever they get here is fine, as long as they get here. ;)
-
Well off to dump all these into my pocket and reminisce of the days.... with my shorts falling off...
OMG I forgot about that!! What an excellent memory!
-
Just got back into town, it was great to open my mailbox and see the tokens. Thanks for all of the hard work to everyone who worked on these, especailly Santoro and family!
-
Got mine a couple of days ago - they look excellent. Thanks Santoro. :)
-
got mine on tuesday.....opened them up....ah....titties. very nice.
-

I must be pretty unhip as I have never heard that word used quite in that context. ??? But I am very glad you like the tokens.
-
well i dont think its a word that anybody uses in that context other than myself a few of my friends. i happen to like boobs a whole lot, and when something is really cool or good....then you reference it to boobs. not quite as cool as boobs (actually no where near) but if i say "these tokens are titties" then you know that they are better than just "cool" or "neat", but you also know they arent quite as cool as a nice rack. understand? ::)

What a coinsidence; I love titties too! Lets hear it for the mammaries!!!
And I thought it was just me!?
-
My tokens finally arrived after their long trip Downunder. Got them yesterday. Thanks Dave.
-
OK, as promised. Here is a comparison of the token counts. I have included a few items for scale.
How much for the bananna.
-
$.025 US. Whatta bargain! No guarantees as to the freshness however. :)
-
Just a heads-up to anyone who might be on the fence, supplies of the Nickel tokens are dwindling. I suggest ordering soon if you intend on ordering Nickel.
I can't order those in lots smaller than 10,000 so chances are slim that I will ever have enough demand to justify ordering more.
-
O man, I really need to scrounge up some cash :'( I want those nickel plated tokens!! hehe
Any rough idea on how much you have left?
-
Probably a few weeks' worth in my estimation.
(edit:fixed typo)
-
I just got mine, and for people who haven't taken the plunge yet, the photos do not do these tokens justice! I think these are far higher quality than any "real" arcade token I've ever seen! (Of course, most of us will rarely see tokens struck with fresh dies...)
This is probably one of the biggest group projects undertaken by this community, and I'd like to take a moment to single out and thank some people who have had impact on this project:
First and foremost, Santoro, who probably got an ulcer or two but saw this through to completion! Also special thanks to Santoro's wife who acted as the business manager and shipping department and Santoro's daughter who did the mind numbing counting.
Pixelhugger, of course, had us all from the beginning as his round atomic design was just begging to be put on a token, and he adapted it to the needs of engraving masterfully. I think he also needs to be recognized for adding the word "stipplerific" to our vocabulary.
Saint, thanks for letting us flood your home with traffic! We probably killed your bandwidth uploading and viewing design after design...
mmmPeanutButter's "Arcades R' Kool" stick-figure design eventually got refined into the back side of the token.
DaveMMR's suggested a revision of mmmPeanutButter's design, calling for a silhouette of a man playing a cab with a slogan around the edge, which of course is exactly what the back looks like.
bioart was the first to suggest that the URL be placed on the token. Good call!
AmericanDemon came up with the original idea of putting the Player 1 icon inside the O of BYOAC.
KevSteel came up with the winning slogan, "The Game Is Never Over". My boss saw these tokens this morning, and that immediately jumped out to her as cool...
Surgeville gave us the idea of the date. I initially resisted the date, but it was definately the right way to go.
patrickl kept pushing for use of multiple levels, and he was right... it really did make a difference!
dag2000 suggested removing the outer ring on the back side (which eventually spread to the front); this suggestion was critical to making the text readable at token size.
Rom's design sparked the addition of the ill-fated dentils; may they rest in peace. :)
Far more people than this helped finalize the design; Froggerman, DaveMMR, Calawala (gotta love the llama), MinerAl, Stingray, DrewKaree, and many others brought a lot of useful commentary and ideas to the table. Special thanks to Aceldamor for Latin lessons.
My sincerest apologies to anyone I've left out.
Great job, everyone!
--Chris

And don't forget you, Chris (I know you wouldn't thank yourself in your post). You were also one of the many responsible for the token I now hold in my hand.
Bravo!

Here's to next year's design!
(Holds up a fistful of tokens in "arcade power" salute ;) )
Thanks to a great team effort (with some great management and relatively peaceful arbitration.)
Kevin
-
...the photos do not do these tokens justice!
I second that. I was absolutely blown away by the fine detail the mint was able to produce. The fact that the initials are readable is amazing. The lines that form the letters are a mere 5/1000th's of an inch wide. Shocking! :o
I'm excited for next years designs, especially knowing now what kind of details are possible.
As has already been said... thanks a million to Santoro and his family, Chris, and all the others involved in making a bit of BYOAC thread history. And thanks again to patrickl for the "levels" - they absolutely make the atomic logo work.
-
KevSteel came up with the winning slogan, "The Game Is Never Over". My boss saw these tokens this morning, and that immediately jumped out to her as cool...
The slogan got the same reaction from my wife. That was the first thing she commented on when she saw the tokens. That was without a doubt the correct choice for the slogan.

Is it too late to Paypal tilzs? I'd really like to get a set of both now. Let us know if Paypal is still an option!
-
Is it too late to Paypal tilzs? I'd really like to get a set of both now. Let us know if Paypal is still an option!
As far as I know you can still Paypal him. You might want to verify with him in a PM first. It has been a month or so since my last Tilzs order.
Let me know if he can't and we can work something else out.
-
Starting tomorrow I am offering 100 lots of Tokens for $19.00 USD and $4 shipping. I can't do it formally yet because I still need to weigh stuff and figure out international logistics.
I know some want 50 and 25 lots, but I can't do that yet. Maybe in a few months.
If you are in the US and paying Paypal from your checking, you can order tonight by sending $24 to tokens@santoro.com. Otherwise I will make every attempt to have the complete ordering info in the first post of this thread by tomorrw afternoon.
There will still be a 50/50 option on the tokens while nickel supplies last.
Hopefully this will help a few more folks to get in on the fun.
-
Here's to next year's design!
(Holds up a fistful of tokens in "arcade power" salute ;) )
Um, that is actually a pretty good visual... a hand/fist full of tokens might be a good image for one side of next year's tokens! If I could draw what I see in my head, you'd agree with me. (If I could draw what I see in my head I could afford 10,000 tokens all by myself.)
-
Wow.
-
OK, 100 lots are formally available and the ordering mechanism has been updated in the first post of this thread.
-
i'd love to buy some of the tokens but...
my Happ mini over/under coin door has arrived which has 25c happ plastic ultimech
Being in the UK I am pleasently surprised to find that UK 10p coins are accepted without requiring any adjustment.
how does the tokens size/weight compare to a 25c/10p coin?
can anyone confirm to me how i can modify this mech to accept the BYOAC tokens? what adjustments are required?
if it can be modified i will then order some tokens.
please advise as soon as possible so i can order as i believe stock of the tokens is dwindling.
thanks
-
OK, 100 lots are formally available and the ordering mechanism has been updated in the first post of this thread.
Just so you don't get screwed, I think there is a typo for the 100 mixed. Should be 50/50.

Nice catch, thanks. I even checked that twice, I must have posted the wrong code or something. I will fix that as soon as I get home.
-
Santoro - I sent money to tilzs already, and he accepted it. Haven't heard anything from either of you, just want to know that everything is cool, since you say he has stopped accepting credit card payments.
-
I got that one - you should see them today or tomorrow. You were the last Tilzs order.
Dave
-
call me dim but i'm bit confused about the international ordering process via credit card.
i want 100 tokens, to be shipped to UK
i tried to use links in the 1 post of this thread
originally i incorrectly made payment using credit card to the cash account. Santoro i sent you PM about this. please can you please reject the payment.
when i tried to reorder using the correct link to tokens@arcadereplay.com with payment amount of $20 (for 100 tokens) + $12 (shipping to UK) + 4.5% total (cc surcharge)
however paypay is adding another $7.35 for postage and packing
is this correct?
-
Nope, it's wrong. Stand by, I am seeing what I might have done wrong. I denied the original payment.
-
OK, should be fixed now. Sorry for the problems.
-
Just placed my order for 50/50 mix :-)
I wanted the 100/100 mix but my wife said a big NO to the $42 bucks considering all the money I'm currently sinking into my cab :-( But she gave me the O-kay for the $24 for 50/50 :-)
can't wait to get them in!!!
Mike B
-
just got my 100 (50/50 mix) - they look awesome!
just wish i had ordered 200
now to modify my happ coin mech to accept them....
-
HEADS UP
Only 250 nickel tokens left!!!!!!! First-come, first served folks.
I am amazed that these sold significantly faster than the brass.
-
OK, it is official , the nickel tokens are gone. I still have some Brass left. I was on vacation, but I will probably offer smaller quantities this week if the poll shows the demand.
-
Nickel is sold out!!!(I can't order nickel in lots smaller than 10,000 so chances are slim that I will ever have enough demand to justify ordering more.)
DANG!!! @$#%&*$#!!!!!! I wanted to get the nickel and the brass order. I personally have only seen brass tokens in my day; however, I thought that it would be kind of cool to have something a little different. Plus, NICKEL tokens are PIMP!!!
BUT, being a college student, I had to wait on placing my order. Just got my stipend check, and its big enough that I actually have a budget for trivial & frivolous things. SO, IF THERE IS ANOTHER RUNS, COUNT ME IN FOR 100 NICKLE TOKENS.
IF ANYONE BOUGHT THE NICKLE TOKENS, BUT DIDN'T REALLY LIKE THE LOOK OF THEM AFTER THEY RECIEVED THEM, PLEASE SEND ME A PRIVATE MESSAGE. I CAN EASE YOUR DISAPOINTMENT!!!! YOU COULD BUY SOME MORE BRASS!!!!![/i]
-
Nickle MAME tokens are coming, so all is not lost...
-
I received my 200 brass tokens this morning and was blown away by the detail and quality.
The brass tokens have a nice gold look to them. :)
Let's hope the MAME tokens see the light of day.
-
With everyone talking about how happy they were with there tokens I couldn't wait until the MAME ones, so I just placed an order for 400 (although I'll definitely be all over the MAME ones).
Now to explain to the wife why I need (that many) tokens in the first place ;D
-
Only 2000 Brass Tokens left!!!
With MAME tokens and the 2005 BYOAC tokens on the horizon, I don't expect to order more of these.
-
Got mine in today. For some reason I thought that the nickel would be much better than the brass, but these are just as good (in fact, I prefer them over the nickel)
Guess I better start thinking of reasons now why I'll need MAME and 2005 BYOAC tokens when I already have 400 of these. ;D
-
Tell her it's a token of your love for her and as the collection grow it is because she gets more beutiful as the years go on.
-
When we were first married I might have tried that, but over 5 years later she pretty much knows all my tricks.
-
I would really love to just have one of each the nickel and the brass. Anyone out there willing to sell me one of each for $2? You could just send me them in an envelope, first class mail, and I'll paypal you $2.
-
i orderd 200 brass tokens on friday i think it was (i may have accidentally said nickel in the paypal note i cant remember d'oh)
just wondering if you've recived the paypal payment and if they've been sent yet?
-
They were mailed yesterday. Enjoy.
-
thanks
-
Hey Santoro,
Just wanted to let you know that I just placed an order for 100 myself today...let me know if you need anything or have any questions. Thanks again for coordinating all of this. :)
-
Is it just me or does the "buy now" button not do anything?
-
Paypal has been having problems since this weekend. I would try every 6-8 hours.
Thanks for your patience.
-
Got it done, looking forward to some cool coins. 8)
-
Woo hoo, just received mine yesterday and they are awesome. Thanks to everyone who put all the hard work into these. :)
-
Got mine yesterday and I love them! Thanks! This was a long time coming and I didn't think it would ever happen.
-
I just got mine after much deliberation.
For anyone still on the fence, they are beautiful. You'll have no regrets.
Thanks to all involved.
-
I got my tokens the other day too and forgot to post in here. They are really sharp looking, I'm glad I finally ordered some. Too bad I delayed too long, I wish I could have got some nickel ones too.
-
Hey Santoro,
Do you have any Nickel ones left and will they work in a Canadian coin mech?
Thanks!
-
Not much help here - no, and I have no idea! :)
I only have brass. Ask about the mechs in the forums, you will probably get an answer.
Dave
