Can any gamepad, not just sidewinders, hook all the ground connections together?

Unfortunately no, some actually require that you use all the grounds individually, example: Gravis Gamepad Pros, and Gravis Gamepad USBs. I bought a USB version hoping I could just solder all the ground connections to one ground on the controller, but it turns out they have a really weird pcb that requires you to wire to every single ground if you want all the buttons, which is a pain. If you really want to know, just go to like Best Buy and get that warranty thing, and buy a couple controllers, open em up, look to see if they need seperate grounds or not, and return all but the one that works for you (just make sure all the screws are back in!)

i hacked over 10 game pads already..yes..only the $20 gravis was kinda odd..there was 2 seperate grounds..one for action buttons and one for directions...dont buy the pads the turbo and slow and crap..they usually give to trouble..get cheap and simple onces..eb has propad 6 for like $8..which was kinda easy...
