I am a little confused on this issue. I know how to set up arcadeos and advmame for use with an arcade monitor but how does a person prevent damage to the monitor during the boot up process? For the record I am planning on using a J-Pac so I won't have to worry about it but I assume there is a way to get by without the J-Pac because I have seen websites that explain how to hack a vga cable to be used with an arcade monitor. What I haven't seen is an explanation as to how to prevent damage to your monitor while it is displaying dos before loading the front end. Thanks in advance.

some ppl wiat till the FE is booted up and then turn the monitor on, but I don't do that. Since I use PURE DOS as my OS, I just turn everything on at once. I have been doing this for 1 year not I have not seen any damage done to my monitor. Maybe cause my BOOT proecess does not take that till my FE kicks in w/ 15khz frequency.

Most frontends can be configured to play a sound when it is safe to turn the monitor on. Some frontends also have a feature to turn the monitor on via the paralell port once the card is outputting in 15khz mode.
Most people are using a jpac or arcadevga these days - I think your plan to use a jpac is a good one

You can use the monarc.sys utility to boot to 15KHz right off the bat. Make it the first line in your config.sys and you should not have any problems.
