Title: What is NoNameMame?
Post by: unclet on May 12, 2004, 03:20:41 pm
I went to the site but can not seem to find a description of exactly what NoNameMame32 does or allow people to do?

I want to use my ActLabs TV USB light gun and but I have reload problems using Mame32.  Someone informed me that if I used NoNameMame32xp.exe then I would be able to reload no problem...

Yes, No Name MAME includes the MAME:Analog+ changes that will fix the reloading problems.

Short Answer: NoName includes features and hacks from many mame derivatives.  It basically includes the default MAME and almost everything that other people have added to it.

The best and only version of MAME that anyone should use!  Beyond that, what Talking Octopus said:

Little known (and much appreciated) features:

Pong and Monaco GP

Disable Bad Dumps and Game Problems warning screens (SirP)
Artwork Fill Edges (SirP)

Skip Startup Frames (SmoothMAME)
Custom Refresh Rate (SmoothMAME)

Mame Analog Plus (Urebel)

DECO Cassette Turbo Load (M.A.S.H)

Misfit MAME games (??)

Coming soon -

Underclock CPU after a time delay

Turbo startup frames (hopefully)

Are you saying that everything which is in MameAnalog+ is located in NoNameMame32xp?

Also, I would expect to see everything which comes with Mame32 to be located in NoNameMame32xp but when I unZIP both Mame32 and NoNameMame32xp I see that Mame32 has many more directories of stuff (artwork, icons, cpanels, etc...).

Can I simply copy all of NoNameMame32xp files/directories into the Mame32 directory structure and then just use the NoNameMame32xp.exe file instead of the Mame32.exe file?

Thanks for getting me up to speed on this stuff

That's a fact, Jack!  (Stripes)

Errmmmm, I think so, I don't use Mame32, NNMame32, etc.

As another newbie here...
Would this replace commandline mame where as I would need to have a Frontend to run easily or is it a standalone like MAME32?

Well, I use and recommend the commandline version which requires a frontend, but there are NoNameMAME32 versions which replace MAME32 and don't need a frontend.

Ok.

I'm sure this is answered elsewhere but is there USB joystick support in NoNameMame?  I know I can use a USB stick in Mame32 and that I can use joy to key for Commandline Mame under MameWah and  but would NoNameMame save me the trouble of using joy to key?

Not sure - AFAIK, commandlineMAME, NoNameMAME (all versions), and MAME32 all support USB joysticks, so I assume you are using JoytoKey for MameWah, but I'm not sure beyond that . . .

BTW,
What's your software set-up Tiger-Heli?  Are you using a FE?
