Can anyone tell me how to set up a file server so i can acces my files on other computers and share them over my network. I do not know that much about networking.

You can run Apache HTML server. It is free and relativly easy to set up. That way you could serve your files (like your avatar) or your web page and not have to worry about web space. NOIP.com offers free DNS service so you don't have to remember your IP. It helps if you have a static IP (always on internet) and a computer you can leave on constantly though.

Are you trying to set something up that's just for your home use, or are you trying to share across the internet? Also, what kind of OS are you using on your computers? Windows, I would assume. If so, which type? 98? XP? There's different methods for simple file sharing in all of them.

Sorry I forgot to include that this is a file server with a 166 mhz proccesor. It has 65 MB of ram (more coming) and Is running windows 98. I want to be able to access files on this computer between a mame cab, 2 other computers, and across the internet. 2 comps will have XP and one will have 98.

I'd just use the XP networking wizard. I've done much the same between 3 new XP systems, and a 400 mhz 98SE box I use as a server. I use a router as a hub between all the systems, but there are ways to manage without one. I like the router as it made everything simple and it acts as a firewall.
