Just curious--what joints (woodworking) are you folks using to connect pieces of MDF? Just butt-joints with screws to add support, or are people mitering, rabbeting, dadoing, dovetailing, or doing anything else complex?
I'm trying to decide on actual construction and finishing, so trying to think things through before pushing ahead. I'm looking at building the box out of 1/2" particleboard and then adding 1/4" of hardboard over it for finish--probably more effort than it's worth but I didn't think the whole thing needed to be solid MDF; worth an experiment at least.
I just can't decide physically how to assemble the box...

I used mostly glue/screw butt joints.
I did have some ledger blocks inserted where I thought they'd help, but mostly just deck screws everywhere.
Mine's all built out of 3/4" plywood and 1x poplar though.
I think ledger blocks and lots of glue/screws are probably the way you'd want to go if you're going to use particleboard.
That will keep the particleboard intact, and as thick as possible.
The base of my cabinet is a framed rolling table built from 2x4's that the sides/front/back all attach to, so cabinet wobble wasn't an issue for me either.

I assembled mine with Biscuits, though most don't have a biscuit cutter..

Yeah, add some gravy and you got breakfast! ;D

I'm kinda leaning toward the biscuit method myself (I don't own a biscuit joiner, but I do have access to one). Sounds like a good solid joint.
Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to cover the sides...

Bob Marley style, oh I mean but joints with l brackets for added strength.
