After about 6 months, my 3" Happ trackball now feels "loose". Does anyone have any suggestions on how to adjust or clean the trackball for smooth/quick side to side and up/down movement?
-
i too have a similar problem

It's probably nothing to do with dirt, how often do you use your trackball? I can't imagine that you have worn the rollers down but I guess if you were on it 5 hours a day for 6 months, that might do it.
Send an email to Happ if you dont get an answer on here.

it might just be the rollers have dust/dirt built up on them...
but its possible that the new happs 3" trackballs arnt made with the same plastics as they used to be. Maybe the balls themselves are wearing down - thus the smaller diameter makes them 'hop' off the rollers.

Mine did this. You just need to lubricate the rollers with some 3 in 1 Oil, and that will do the trick.

What is 3 in 1 Oil? Is it WD-40?

It's a light lubricating oil - but not as light as WD-40. Any hardware store in the US should have it, I would think.
-
Sounds good. Does anyone know if the oil will do any long-term damage to the trackball?
-
Heck no; 3-in-1 oil is good. In fact, don't even consider using WD-40 on a trackball. It'll gum up the bearings.
-
I'll give it a try. Thanks!

BTW, I meant to say lube the bearings in my earlier post. You don't want to put oil on the rollers because that will get your trackball all oily. :P
