I have no idea how much this is worth, but I spent $200.00 for it. Does anyone know how rare or how much this is truly worth? It is 100% working, no screen burn in. My camera battery died before I could get "working" pics.

I have no idea.. Paige will chime in, im sure. ;)
Definitely a sweet looking cab!
-
You even got a genuine tapper coaster :)
Im no expert but im no dummy either, im sure it was a good deal for $200. It looks to be in exquisite shape.
Good for you.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the old Tapper cab! And to this day I spit on Root Beer Tapper even though it's esentially the same game (the same way I prefer Jungle King to Jungle Hunt).
Man, I should have designed my cab with places to put my frosty mug of beer.. but I'm not redrawing the plans (besides I don't really want people putting drinks on it anyhow).
I don't know its value either but it's definately something I would've payed more for.
-
Im the same way Dave, especially about Jungle King.
I saw some NOS Tapper Controllers on ebay but i didnt even mention it because there root beer. YUCK! :D
-
Ill give you 200 for it? you can make your money back :P
Im not real sure how much its worth but Ive seen them go very high on ebay.
You could def. make some money or donate it to me. ;D
-
I have seen these cabs go for upto the $1600+ range on eBay, but they are usually really mint condition. Either way, you definately scored. I want to own one of those cabs one day. I love that game!
-
Agreed, you definitely got a sweet deal for a Tapper in that condition. I would have picked that up in a heartbeat for $200, too, even if I didn't like Tapper.
-
Why did they change Tapper to Root Beer Tapper anyway? I have a general idea but never got the whole story. I know every compilation using RBT (although I remember the C64 used Bud but the bonus game used Mountain Dew).
(Man, I hope no one ever MAMEs one of those cabs)
-
The government made them change it by enforcing laws that prohibit advertising alcohol to minors.
-
Wow, that is one heck of a deal.
I love Tapper so much, and so does my girlfriend heh. I will own one before I die, that is for sure.

No not really. The original was made to go into bars, bars with legal, drinking-age patrons. When it did really well, they wanted a version for the arcades so they just changed it a bit and made it so it could go into arcades. I mean no one "forced" the company to make the change, it just allowed to them to appeal to a larger audience. Same with the home versions.
As for your deal for $200, it's a steal, that could fetch you $800 easy on ebay right now. Congrats!

And now, I am a bit wiser (or bud wiser).
Yeah I suppose if they released regular Tapper to the home systems (in the Midway Arcade Treasures specifically) they'd have to rate the whole package 'M'.
It's pretty true to life too! This one time, I walked into a bar and slowly crept my way towards the bartender constantly asking for a frosty brew. And when I got to him still without beer in hand I promptly slid him violently across the bar. Good thing he didn't try to distract me with can-can dancers. ;D

QuaterArcade has one (fully restored Budweiser version) ... and there asking $1,995.00 for it ;D (... so for $200 that's a really really sweet deal :D )
-
I have unfortunately seen at least one Mamed Tapper that still had sideart. Of course I have also seen a dedicated a dedicated Timber converted to video poker, and a dedicated Domino Man (with full sideart, and still had the 3D dominoes on the front) converted to an 8-liner.

Well I'm glad that this one is staying in the shape it is. Great game.

WOW! What a fantastic looking Tapper you found there! Nice score.

SWEET GRAB!!!
I would have bought it for sure....especially since it was a bud cab!!
-
Without a doubt you stole that cab. $200 is a great price. The game is a fun game, and the artwork on your cab is amazing. $1600 seems far too much for this cab, at least in the NJ/NYC area which tends to bring fairly high prices. Though, I would say that it's worth $800 (dave) - $1,200.
Nice find, I'm jealous!
-
That's really awesome! And I agree with everyone else that you got a superb deal. Congratulations!

Thank you everyone. Glad to know that my thriftness is appreciated. Now if I can find more suckers....er I mean "people" who wish to get rid of invaluable....err.... "JUNK" cabinets such as this one..... 8)
