What is the best emulator to run Mortal Kombat?  Mame runs this series of games incredibly slowly, is there another emulator that runs these games better?

It doesn't take an INSANE pc to run Mortal Kombat. I'm pretty sure an athlon XP 1200+ can run it full speed.  and you can get an AthlonXP 1700 for $45:

The processor.  An AMD Athlon XP 1700+, which is a) what I have in my cab, and b) enough to run Mortal Kombat.

You are still going to get the scratchy MK sound syndrome, after the first game or so.  I know different people will give you different home remedies for this - ie: use a sb sound card, set sampling hz higher/lower, rub lemon juice on speaker outputs, use gold plated phono plugs, etc, but in reality the guy who worked on that driver has already said that its a bit buggy and he needs to rework it but hasn't had time yet.
