Hello,
I posted a couple of weeks ago, I have this Galaga 3 machine that quit working a while ago. The monitor does seem to work though, as I can hear the whine when I turn it on and the tube at the back still glows. I want to build a MAME cabinet and was just going to convert this, unless this is really something worth saving that a collector might want.
Here are some pictures. It's originally a Pac-Man cabinet (still has some Pac-Man instructions inside and you can still see some yellow paint in places) that was converted to Galaga 3 and has the correct marquee, but they just painted the sides black (badly).
Anyway, please let me know your opinions or if anyone is interested in the machine or it's parts before I gut it. Please keep in mind that this is how I got it, I *did not* abuse this machine. :)

Well your picture links are broken first of all, heh
But if its an original PacMan cab, and you say it was painted badly, perhaps you can save the pacman art? Then at the very least, you could sell that cab for *I would imagine* a decent amount to someone looking to restore it. Then you could always build a MAME cab or get a more generic cab for it. Just my opinion. Get the pics up so I can see it :)

OK, this is too weird. The pics show up perfectly on my mac, but show up as broken on PC. I posted this from the mac because the PC kept asking me to log in to post, and I was logged in.
Frustrating....

Also, if anyone has any idea why I can't stay logged in through my PC please let me know. I log in, and it says I'm logged in, but the minute I click on a topic (or anything else) I'm no longer logged in. :(

The problems with the pictures is that they are hosted by geocities and they don't allow direct links. If you manually type in the address they show up fine.
Geocities probably only looks for links via Internet Explorer so you can get around it by using a mac.
Simple solution...get a real host :)

I don't actually use Geocites.
I have a RoadRunner account with some space, I've just been too lazy to look into it. The geocities account is one I had from eight or nine years ago and haven't used forever. I just remembered it was there and thought it would be an easy place to dump a few JPGs. Strangely, even though I posted them from my mac, I used IE.
Looks like it's time to set up a real site. I bought a URL last year, just haven't gotten around to doing anything with it. Been playing too many games :)

I say go ahead and mame it since it is so butchered anyway. You could go with pac-man or galaga graphics and that would look cool too. You have the functionality of mame with the cool retro art. If you are really unsure of what to do I could always take it off your hands...my wife wants a Ms. Pac-man bad. ;D
