Title: mounting 20" TV in cocktail cabinet
Post by: ericball on May 04, 2004, 05:16:50 pm
Through happy accident, I have in my possesion both a PC with TV out and a spare 20" TV.  I've managed to sell my wife/CFO on the idea of building a cocktail cabinet for MAME.  (4ways on the short sides, 2 8ways on the long side style, using a Kyle's PacMan plans for the top/TV mount)

Anyhow, I've taken the back off the TV and under all the dust I can see that the tube is attached to the front of the case with 4 screws.  If I stand the TV in it's case on it's back the tube doesn't fall in, so can I use the same mounting points to attach the tube to the bottom of the cabinet top?  Or should I try to build some kind of additional bracing around the middle of the tube?

Actually, http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=18049 with the Z brackets is probably closer to what I will end up doing.  (I'd seen the other post, but hadn't followed the link.)

The TV doesn't have a chassis or frame as such so I couldn't use the method in the post you linked to.  There are a bunch of PCBs which I will have to find homes for on the drop-away back.
