Holy christ!! that's AWESOME!! :o
I envy YOU!!! :-\
-
Personally, I'd rather have a garage.
-
Where does the car sit?
-
Wow, nice set up. Wonderful work!

This is a DRIVE-IN Movie Cinema ? :)
-
what movie is it showing ??... can I buy ticket online ??....
those butt kickers... and those underseat stuffs... for interactive movies ??...
man... that's really crazy..... I love it....
btw.... usually... next to the soda machine and the popcorn machine.... they need like 2 arcades....
now I have nothing to do while waiting for the popcorn to pop !!!!.... ;) ;)
VERY NICE !!!!.... VERY VERY NICE !!!....

These kind of people are nuts. I want to be one of them.
Sure, we spend 1-2k on an arcade cabinet, and spend about 1-2 months of time on it. But thats portable, and not really that big of a thing when all is said and done.
But then people like this spend 20-50k on a movie theater, and takes them many months/years to complete. I could never build one myself, but boy do I want one! (need a house first... i think)
-
so with all then nuts in here, which one of us will build a DRIVE-IN version. Boy i really miss the Drive-In (Hey where did my GF go, next car I think) :o.
-
I think that is sweet! Personally I'd rather have a garage, but you have to admire someone with the vision to put something like that together.
-
So does this thing come complete with the sticky floors (coke spills), squeeky chairs, and the tall guy in front that talks way too much? ;D
-
Holy sh!t that projector owns !!
I wanna mame that thing :D

They still have a drive in movie theater where I live. It's awesome. Tickets are 2$ for adults... as far as refreshments go. candy, popcorn, hot dog, french fries... each item 50 cents, giant soda: 1$. Can't beat it.
-
geez... I'd love to have this!! For that matter, I'd love to have the money that was invested in this ;D ;D
Even better idea tho would be to have a 2 car garage and have the extra one be the Arcade ;)
-
Great. Now I'm not happy with my stuff... again. :'(
-
man, a 12k projector. That's a whole lot of money.
:(
-
I have a few drive ins near me, in Vermont. Nearest one is about ten miles away.
Last time I went there was with my wife and then 1 1/2 year old. We saw Spider-Man. We were amazed that they charged us for our kid, even though he wasn't anywhere near 'movie age.'
-
actually.... did he mention how much did he spent on fixing up a theatre like that ??...
the materials.... (wood / lights / ... building materials...) I would say <= $3k....
but then you have things like curtains... the heat/ac unit...
the chairs...
and bammm... a $12k projector ??....
and like 3 month's work ??....
actually.... still not too bad.... (give the results...)
-
the chairs are $400 each + probably $100 for shipping x 12 = $6k.
-
yes yes yes... but can it be MAMEd?
-
The is a NIB Marantz VP-12S2 Projector on eBay for $7000...

Actually, there are 2 forums for people just like BYOAC, build your own home theater -
www.hometheaterforum.com - they really need a project anouncment forum, like BYOAC
www.avsforum.com - very bloated - too many people to keep up with the topics of discussion. To large for it's own good. Hopefully BYOAC won't ever reach that.
For the record - a lot of cheaparses (like myself) started there home theater with the amazingly cheap X1 - deals may still be possible if you are really interested.

check
www.techbargains.com for dell deals

I'm getting either a Sony HS3 or a Epson PowerLite Home 10 unit when I'm finished my HT.

I have an Infocus rep showing me a Screenplay 5700 tomorrow (sweet but $$) but I still am wondering if I should just pocket the difference and just get the X1. decisions ... decisions ...

Yeah I have lurked on avsforum and projectorcentral for many months now. Great resources (I am building a diy screen from a avs thread actually)
