Title: Happ TB light issues

I have a Happ translucent blue 3" trackball and was powering it off my 12 volt computer power supply and the bulb burn't out after an hour. It was then I realized it was a 6 volt TB, can I just replace the 6 volt bulb with a 12 volt one and there will be no problems, or is it more technical and I'm better off wiring to the 6 volt power supply?

computer psu has 5v too.  you could power your 6v bulb off of 5v psu lead.  it will be dimmer than usual but it should light enough.  Or yes you can replace it with a 12v light and use 12v off of the psu.  If you are going to replace the light anyway, consider LED's.  They can be as bright with no heat and much less power consumption.  And, for most practical purposes, they last forever.

Thanks buddy, I'll pick up a 12 volt bulb for now and order some super leds to experiment with.

Doesn't your 5V output have a pot that takes it from 4V to 6V most do?
