They say to leave sleeping dragons where they lie. For the dragon has claws that tear and teeth that bite. And the dragon's power knows no bounds. But to pay the price for one's foolish curiosity is just. Sometimes.... the Dragon wakes itself.
This month will be the time of the awakening. Prepare yourselves.

For the record and only for the record I've only played d&d for 5 minutes and then quit mid-game because even at the young age of 10 I realized it was too dorky even for me. (And believe me that's pretty frikkin dorky!) Rpgs are the same, some genius decided to take the boredom and tedium of the pen and paper games and translate them to video game form. Fancy new package, still lame. ;)
My way with words comes from my love of literature and poetry.

Don't cut down D&D too much around here.. you might make too many enemies..
Arcades and D&D was the staples for many during the arcade haydays....
but...
not...me...
nope...I wasn't a geek....
nope...
not me...

I like D&D. I haven't gotten to play in a year or so, though, as it's too time consuming and tough to get everyone together regularly. It may be dorky, but it's an excuse to sit around, drink beer, eat pizza, and socialize with my friends.
I do have to say that I think it's funny to see someone who writes emulator front ends for fun saying that playing D&D is dorky. A case of the pot calling the kettle black, I'd say. :P

I tend to get friends together and watch sports, or talk about women, or play poker, or go to a club, or play golf, or something REAL. Not to all pretend we're mythical creatures using our magical imaginary hit points to fight dragons. But that's just me..
I NEVER Liked D&D.. I guess it's a personal choice tho.. *shrug*

The ONLY D&D I liked was on the Intellivision. Advanced d&d. Fun game. I could not stand those pen and paper games. Or the old text only games for early computers. I don't have the mind for games like that. I grew up on TV. :P

Well, we do all that stuff too. Except the clubs - most of my friends are married or close to it. Anyway, how is playing an RPG worse than playing a video game? Same premise, just a different medium. I understand that it requires a certain amount of imagination and creativity, so it's not for everyone...

Talk about an Off topic topic!
I have never once played D&D. Only disturbed indivduals who belong to cults and kill people play that game. It's satanic!

Do you honestly believe that, or are you just kidding? I thought that viewpoint went out in the 80's. Well, other than Jack Chick (http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0046/0046_01.asp), of course...
Dorky? Yes. Satanic? No.

Heavy sarcasm.

Heavy sarcasm.
OK, cool. It took me by surprise. :)

Heavy sarcasm.
Sarcasm yes. But my mother wouldn't let me watch the cartoon as a kid because of that belief (and she isn't even religious). I also couldn't watch Transformers or G.I. Joe. Too violent. But that's for another off topic topic!

um, howard...i think i speak for everyone when i say....we want nothing to do with your "sleeping dragon"....lets keep that one in the cave bud. yuck

I can say I'd rather it be his front end than his back end!
Wakawakawaka! ;D
Early in the 80's there was a TV movie starring Tom Hanks, where he played a college student that got way way too into a D&D type game and started thinking he was actually living it.
Maybe that's where parents got that idea. I knew a kid growing up that when the rest of us would play D&D he never wanted to because his mom had told him it was satanic, made people crazy, etc.
Times change, nowadays we have Grand Theft Auto to blame for "making kids crazy". :D
EDIT: "Mazes and Monsters" was the movie. Here is a link to it on IMDB- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084314/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084314/)

Hmmm ... "Sleeping" ... That's what I'd like to be doing right now. ;) Too many projects, so little time. I haven't been able to touch my arcade machine for a couple weeks now. :(

Speaking of things...what ever happened to the Lighted Button program?
