Hi all
I've got my cabinet in business now - now all I need to do is add some buttons and install the trackball. I've got a metal control panel and I was just wondering if anyone has some clean shots of how they mounted their trackball to the control panel - should I have got the mounting bracket? Many thanks all!

I've mounted two of them so far, both into wood, but I used a custom metal mount, basically you just need to find your center, cut the hole (I removed the ball and used the hole in the housing for a template, then just cut the hole a little larger. Once the hole is cut, mark your mounting holes and drill them. It's also easy if you have a 2 1/4" hole saw, but I didn't get one because I didn't know if I'd keep using the ultimarc ball or go back to the happ. Hope this helps a bit, ask away if you have more questions!

You're going to have a tough time mounting it in a metal panel unless you have a 2.25" metal hole punch. Getting the hole in the metal exactly round for the lip of the is going to be pretty tough.

I have managed to cut some pretty exact holes in metal using a holesaw and a hand drill. You could probably get it perfect with a drill press.

I've decided to take my control panel to a metal worker / engineer to punch holes for my extra buttons and trackball. It will probably cost $40-50, but cheaper than the equipment that I'll only use probably once!
