Title: The need for JAMMA harness in Cabinet?

Hi,
I was just wondering if someone could clear up the following for me.

If you have an arcade cabinet (with arcade monitor ) and the arcade monitor is hooked to a standard VGA cable input, is there any need for a JAMMA hardness?   This could also make things easier for hooking up consoles, as you can buy VGA adapters for some.

Hope someone can clear up the pros and cons of the JAMMA harness in this situation for me.

Just another quick question about JAMMA+.  Is JAMMA+ an adaptor for JAMMA or something entirly seperate?

If you've hacked a VGA cable to connect your monitor/chassis and have no intension of using a J-PAC or using the cab for JAMMA games then no, there really isn't any need for the JAMMA harness.

My understanding is JAMMA+ is regular JAMMA with additional connectors for other functions (more buttons, more players).

Me for 1.  My 4 player cab is still a fully functioning JAMMA cab and I have several PCB's.  I'm not saying I necessarily use those PCB's but I could.  I'd rather hang on to them and let MAME and my PC do all the work, after all the PC is more easily replaceable than the PCB's.
