Awesome MAME system with 27" TV, Slikstik controller and tons of features and functionality.
This really is a good deal - no reserve, starting at $1000. If it ends at $1001, then that's the price. Components alone equal $1000....SlikStik is $500 by itself.

Sure, the SlikStik can butt right up against the bezel if you'd like. It's in the current position because I built a hidden storage area between the bezel and back of the SlikStik. The keyboard is sitting on a hinged shelf that lifts up to reveal the storage. It's where I keep the Dreamcast and other items out of the way.
No problem to remove it though to give you the extra clearance in the front.

Not sure I'm understanding that you're saying? There isn't a CP bolted to a CP anywhere.
IT's also that deep because that how I wanted it. Obviously I wasn't going for the "classic" arcade look. ;)
I've been other MAME systems, but this is my personal system and I've just got creative with it. Any ideas I had, I tried them out. I made it deeper because I wanted storage for the Dreamcast (under the keyboard) and other items. I also have Dreamcast controllers hardwired into the SlikStik, so I can play DC games using the SlikStik. Another reason to have the control panel set back was so I wasn't right up against a 27" screen when playing games. The CP setback lets me enjoy the screen without being pressed against it.

Maybe I am just not looking at it correctly, but it looks to me like the machine still has the original panel, and then you bolted the slikstick onto the front of the original panel.

Ah, ok, I see what you saying. The original CP is gone, but that cabinet style has extra side pieces that go along the sides of the original CP. The original CP was metal and when unhinged and allowed to swing down, did not have sides...it was just a single piece of metal that was bent and not boxed in.
I kept those side pieces on because those formed the sides of my storage area. I built a back and then a hinged top for the area. I could've removed them since they are invididual pieces that are only screwed to the cabinet itself. By removing them, then the SlikStik could be flush up to the monitor like a standard cab layout.
The SlikStik is actually sitting on a plywood base I built that extends all the way inside the cabinet. This base is secured by L brackets and also provides support for the TV. This also forms the bottom of the storage area as well.
