I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find the answer. I think I must have somehow changed my keyboard settings in MAME so that now when I press TAB, it thinks I'm pressing escape and I get dumped out of the game. I can't figure out how I did this, exactly, but now there's no way for me to get to the in-MAME menus and redo the controls. How do I do this outside MAME? Is it hidden in some config file somewhere, because I can't find it.
Thanks for your help!

if you have read the FAQ in the official site, you would have read the answer along this line " delete the default.cfg in your cfg folder to reset MAME default keys" something like that. Anyway try it...

Well, I don't want to reset all the keys. Just the UI_Configure one. I've got the rest of the buttons just like I want them, except for the menu command. Any way to just get rid of the Configure command but nothing else? Maybe it's impossible, which seems weird to me.
Thanks for the quick answer and excellent advice on reading the FAQ, but not quite the solution I was looking for.

Deleting default.cfg basically gets rid of anything you set under (inputs - all games). Anything set under (inputs this game) would not be affected by the change.
That's your best shot short of using ctrlr.ini files, but you would have to reconfigure everything to use those as well.

What solution did you come up with ? I like to know so, I can write it down in my own FAQ.
