I'm considering buying an arcade monitor (possibly from Hantarex). Do any of you guys know which games you can play on which frequencies? For example, if I buy a 15 / 25 KHz monitor would I be able to play all the MAME games? And what about other emulators? (Amiga / C64 / Spectrum / SNES etc)? And other machines... psx/xbox/n64/dc/gamecube etc.
Any info would be appreciated!
Thanks

There are a few 31kHz games in MAME too, but most will play using 15kHz and 25kHz.

Amiga = 15kHz (+ 25kHz for AGA)
C64/Spectrum/NES/SNES/MegaDrive/MasterSystem/N64/PS1 = 15kHz
Xbox/Dreamcast/GameCube/PS2 = 15kHz (+31kHz if the game supports it)
Note that you might need a transcoder for component to RGBHV conversion if you want 31kHz from the GameCube or PS2.

When you talk about C64/Amiga/Snes etc, are you talking about connecting those actual machines up to the monitor, or running those systems through emulators? I'll be going down the emulator route... will this still be possible on a 15/25Khz monitor?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, provided the emulator supports output to a 15/25kHz monitor. One such emulator is AdvanceMESS (http://advancemame.sourceforge.net/).

Which mame games require 25KHz? please provide examples
I am currently thinking on getting 15KHz monitor.
Maybe I should go for a dual freq monitor instead?
what is the max resolution with a 25Khz monitor?

Too many to list from memory, but here are a few:
- Atari System 2 based: 720 degrees, Paperboy, Super Sprint, APB
- Konami DJ-Main based: Beatmania games
- Sega System 24 based: Scramble Spirit, Hot Rod, Bonanza Bros.
- Sega Model 1 based: Virtua Fighter, Virtua Racing, Star Wars Arcade
- Midway Seattle based: Carnevil, NFL Blitz games
Also keep in mind that many yet unemulated Sega and Midway games use 25kHz monitors. This might be a consideration if you want to be able to play them in the future.

If you can afford it and it is autoswitching, go for it.
what is the max resolution with a 25Khz monitor?
max. standard (15kHz) resolution= 640x240.
max. medium (25kHz) resolution= 640x384.

oh... now in bit of a dillema :-\
should i get a 15Khz and play restricted number of games
or play extra and get a multi freq monitor. whats the Hantarex Polo Star like?
but pretty big difference in price

hmmm...not so sure now...maybe that was the 21" 15KHz only version! I will have to call them to confirm.
they did have an old stock Polo Star 21" Open Frame VGA 15/25/31 KHZ for
