Has anyone here ever adopted a baby before?
Anyone here know of an infant that needs adopting?
We (my wife of 7 years and I) are unable to have one so our only other choice is to adopt.
She has been researching it for some time now. I have only warmed up to the idea recently.
Anyone have any adoption stories?

I know a couple that was unable to have kids, adopted, then got pregnant within weeks. Really ironic, and unlikely, but you should consider that it could happen without the proper controls, if you know what I mean....
I commend you for considering adoption though. It really can be a win/win for you and the child.

From my knowledge, babies are harder to get than older children, white children are much harder to get than children who aren't white, and girls are harder to get than boys.

Yeah, we checked things out and decided that we would probably get a bi-racial baby, simply b/c white babies would take about 5 years to get, unless we could find a mother privately.

I know someone who adopted a child from Russia. Maybe something like that is an option. I don't know anything about the costs or process, though.

I know several people that have gone the international route. Some from the former soviet bloc and some from asia. My understanding is that the asian adoptions are mostly girls since they are more likely to be abandoned than a son would be. Their reasons for chosing a foreign adoption have varied from age (considered too old to be a canidate for a domestic adoption) to speed (takes too long for a domestic adoption) to getting ticked off at all the red tape involved in a domestic adoption.
Good luck...and enjoy the results.
