Title: Where to buy Hantarex monitors?
Post by: seibu on April 22, 2004, 11:31:32 am
Hello,

In an ideal world, I'd like to buy a brand new 17" Hantarex POLO/3. Unfortunately, quite a lot of Googling, a search on this forum and finally an email to Hantarex themselves has not helped me discover where I'd buy one, either here in the UK or anywhere else.

Does anyone know if it's possible to buy new Hantarex monitors from anywhere? Failing this, could anyone point me in the direction of some good arcade monitor suppliers who are in / can ship to the UK? New or second hand, I'm not fussy. I find Happ's selection a bit limited, to be honest.

Thanks!

Did you ring Hantarex's headquarters in the UK? They don't always respond to emails. Happ Controls should have Hantarex monitors at Happ's UK office also.

I bought my Polo from http://www.suzo.co.uk.  I seem to recall I had to ring them up to order, but they were very helpful :)

Be careful.

As far as I am aware (but do please check this) the Polo Star is not suitable for MAME use. The reason is that it is designed to be used at a fixed resolution, ie you install the monitor into a cabinet, with a game board, then adjust the monitor to suit the game. You can't change to other resolutions without re-adjusting everything and you are also not supposed to change "on-the-fly" without the possibility of damage.
I am going to post a new thread about D9200 equivalents.

Andy

I only have to re-adjust when switching between 15-25-31kHz modes. I have spent some time with advmame to get the timings for 15kHz and 25kHz modes right so I dont have to center the picture every time I change games.

I am a bit concerned though about your remark damaging it when changing resolutions "on-the-fly". I do this all time with AdvanceMAME. Why would it damage the Polostar? Is this a confirmed fact?

I *think* he meant switching from 15-25-31khz, rather than switching resolution.

Now something from Germany (perhaps for people from Austria, the NetherlandsUK  etc... too):

http://www.medi-gmbh.com

Klick on "Monitorvertrieb" and "Preisliste", or use this direct link to the
pricelist as excel-file:

http://home.t-online.de/home/firma-medi/sampers_preisliste.xls

Empf. VK-Netto: this is the recommended price for end-users

VK  Netto: this is the price you actually pay, when ordering at medi-gmbh

For example: the recommended price for the Hantarex Polo2 28" is: 483 Euro, the price at medi-gmbh is 338,10 Euro (!!!!!) Shipping in Germany is about 25 Euro.
