Title: BYOAPedal?
Post by: Lilwolf on April 16, 2004, 12:22:17 pm
I am trying to finalize some control panels...  Putting parts I've had on a panel..

Anyway, I now have 3 control panels which would be nice to have a gas pedal (hydra, 270 and 2 360s on one).

So I started looking around.  I have one digital (on/off) that I might be able to hack...

Question 1:  Will a digital gas pedal be enought?

Then... Anyone have any good plans / ideas with normal equipment that will work?  I have a standup cabinet and would like to hide it inside the base...

Anyway... Thanks for any / all info.

Q1)  What do you mean, will a digital gas pedal be enough?
If that's all the games you want to play used, then you're fine.  It won't work very well for analog pedal games, and it won't work well for games that used a gas/brake/and clutch.

Q2)  Probably the best "off-the-shelf" solution is http://www.act-labs.com/Products/pedal.htm but it's a little pricey.

You could also buy a cheapie wheel with pedals and hack them to the gameport or through daveb's interface.

I've generally thought I could buy and hack cheaper than building from scratch, but that's an option as well:
