I have been working for about a month now on my cabinet, so I thought I would share with the rest of the community! It should be finished by the end of May... details at http://home.austin.rr.com/eldercaribou/arcade.html - enjoy!

hey looks really good so far--nice job (its so nice to see a supportive spouse--donating the tupperware is no small thing!)
-
Very nice! I'm a big fan of scratch built vs. conversion. Nice shape, nice work.

Thanks guys - I am very lucky to have a wife who is interested in this project - she has given input on other aspects of the cabinet as well, but the Tupperware was a bonus!
I think the Defender cabinet is my favorite style of cabinet, but the next one I do will probably be a Gauntlet style - I put *way* too much money into that game in college... I chose scratch built because it was looking like it would cost me just about as much to convert one as build, and I like working in the shop :) besides, i hate to see the old cabs disappear....
Thanks for the encouragement and there'll be more pics as i move closer to completion!

This post brings up an important thing to have during cab building. For those outside of TX, it may be hard to source, and you may not have noticed his use of it, but it makes all the difference..... :P

Very impressive, I wish I had the space you have to work in it would be very handy.
Good job, can't wait to see the finished cab!

Shiner Bock Beer !!
that is the lubrication that keeps the ideas flowing... although i have to limit the amount of lubrication when the power tools are plugged in - kinda hard to play when one is missing an index finger ;)
may all your cabinets plumb true!

Well, it is finally finished! The cabinet is out of the garage and in the house... just some last minute troubleshooting (loose wires) and optional software configuration to do - I should be done by next week. I will also complete the documentation process. A big thanks to all in the community, and especially saint and crew for such an awesome site! Anyway, I have some better pix that I will upload when I get them back from the photo lab. As always, if anyone has questions, ask away! Enjoy!
