Title: PC vs TV vs Arcade Monitor
Post by: rchadd on April 14, 2004, 08:31:43 pm
I know that an arcade monitor should give best results (with ArcadeVGA card)

And also TV using SCART RGA is pretty good.

But are they really that much better than using a regular PC monitor?

it is worth the extra cost (and hastle) to get an arcade monitor?

i want to build a cocktail cabinet - how easy are the above options to mount?

Yes, arcade monitors are better. You will not get an authentic look on PC monitors as these are not build to display low resolutions. MAME will stretch games to fit your screen on PC monitors and it looks very ugly.

Yes! Depending on the tube size you are going for, I think you will find cost is not really the issue. If you want a 25inch monitor you will find a PC monitor will cost as much as an arcade monitor. For 19inch monitor a PC monitor will probably be cheaper.

PC monitors are not designed to be mounted with the tube facing up. It may not work correctly.
