I am interested in the Zektor Vector Generator and VectorMame but it does not sound easy to find a good XY monitor and besides, I want to play both raster and vector games so I started thinking...
Would it be possible to modify a WG U3100 to work as both a raster and XY display? My thought is to find a place in the U3100 circuit to insert a set of solid state switches. I would build a XY display board with a beam killer circuit, if the beam is not moving then the switches would activate the raster input but if there is beam motion from the XY board then the switches would activate the XY display.
I am looking for a schematic for the U3100.
I am looking for anyone who has tried to convert a raster monitor to an XY monitor.
I am looking for any gotcha like the phosphor speed is wrong

NO.
If there was any way to make a standard monitor into a vector monitor then people would have been doing it a long time ago.

Actually, there are a few ways to convert a raster to a vector monitor. It involves building an entirely new chassis though. I remeber seeing a project where a guy turned a TV into an occilliscope.

Well, I meant any PRACTICAL way.
I mean I could go order a new 19" vector tube, and a BUTTLOAD of components and sit down and copy my WG 19" color vector. It would be a huge impractical wired wrapped solder zombie that would take me 400 hours to build, but I could do it.

The schematic for the U-3100 is in the service manual (part # 069X2924-100) which you must buy from Wells-Gardner's parts department.
It would be impractical to try to make an XY & raster combination monitor. Remember that XY monitors have completely different yokes than a raster scan monitor.
