I have agreed to trade a 2 player Mame cabinet with trackball, joysticks and 21" monitor for the following.
Which one of us is getting screwed, or is it about an even trade?

Has anyone ever actually played one of these? I have not.

I think the pinball is worth more.
As a Mame machine is only really valuable to the person who built it. And when you try to sell you Mame machine, your usually getting less then what you put into the machine.
As for the pinball, you can probably resell the for more then what you could have sold you Mame machine for. As there is a large market place of people looking to purchase a pinball machine.
I would have made the trade... Let me know if your looking to get rid of one of your pinballs. As I need one!
Thanks!

If both of you are happy with what you received, noone is getting hoses. I agree that the pinball would hold more value in my mind, only because I don't have one yet. Looks like a very sweet pin in excellent shape.

I figured I was coming out a little ahead on this one. But then I will come out slightly behind on the other deal I am trying to work (trade my best friend a Mame cabinet for his STUN Runner).
-
Paige... you s#ck
Man, I SO want a pinball and you've got em coming at you from all angles.
That pin looks in great shape and the trade seems to me to be WAY in your favor. 21" monitor is the most costly part and even that in comparison is not much.
I have played that pin and I remember it being pretty fun, it was way back when Robocop was coming out and it was ultra hip...but then again has it ever not been (I still think of Robocop when I see a Taurus)
If you ever find a good deal on pin and don't have room....you can call me anytime (we'll have some Italian food in the Little Italy in St louis if I come out...I'll tour AB too that's been on the must do list for a while)
NY in TX without PINs :(

I just got one of these pins for working on a Mechanized Attack.
The best part of the repair... The monitor brightness was too low.
That was the whole problem.
Open up. turn up, play...
:)
Anyone know how to fix 100v power supplies in pinballs?

Nice trade! I had one of these for about 4 years, never gave me ANY trouble.
If it doesn't come with a manual you can grab a copy here:

You definitely got the better deal, tough to build a pin ;D

and I personally think a stunrunner cab is worth more then a mame cab! Cool wierd design... will always be worth something.
Computer equipment looses value VERY fast.... Arcades a little slower... Pinballs retain their value for a LONG time (especially the games with a fun replay value)

is the dartboard included ?? ;) ;D

Check the main CPU board early Data east machines had problems with the cpu boards. Check under the playfield for hack job repairs. Check all molex connections on all the boards look for any burnt connections. Just give the machine a good once over because if you never played the game before. You might have a hard time telling if the machine is working correctly. I was in the pinball repair / selling business for 5+ years. And kept on hearing other techs always complaining about data east pins.

Working pins always bring good money. That one looks nice. Congrats.

Deal has been confirmed, now I just have to get the game done by this weekend so that I will have something to give the guy when he gets here.

If that pin is fully working it is probably worth more than your Mame setup. You can't realistically build a pinball machine but we can all build Mames! Any just about any pin in good condition is worth some money, but a lot of people don't like Mame's at all.
Does he have any good pics of the playfield? That's the most important part of a pin. And does it all work 100%? It could be the difference between that pin being worth more than your Mame or being worth almost nothing. Although the outside looks good so I would guess that the playfield looks okay too. I'd take a gamble on it if I had a spare Mame I didn't want that was built out of scrap parts.

Ok, I should get my new pin saturday or sunday, and here is what the guy gets.

Dang, I do good work! ;D

Defininately Good Deal.
You can sell that pinball at an auction for at least $800, maybe more.
There might be a price list at www.gameroommagazine.com for it.

Ok, I got the machine saturday night.
Overall it is in better condition than I expected.
It was filthy, but it cleaned up very nicely. There are a couple of cracked plastics, but all of them are unimportant cosmetic ones, and not ramps or anything like that.
Good stuff. There do not seem to be any gameplay issues at all, game plays perfectly.
Bad stuff.
Center area (which has three round targets) is trashed. One missing target, one broken one, one missing post, a destroyed plain black plastic, and (probably) some missing rubber in this area.
The majority of the lights on this machine don't ever seem to light up (not the bulbs), specifically the banks in front of all 3 round target assemblys, the lights around the ED 209 rollovers, and the lights between the flippers. The other light banks all seem to be working. This could possibly be a disconnected molex plug or something (see next issue).
No keys to the backbox (what should I do about this).
I will be ordering new rubbers, and some replacement round targets for this soon. Do you guys recommend getting a spare of each color round targer? I am not sure how often they break, but both of my pins have broken ones.
Also, I am going to have to post a picture of the playfield and a small cosmetic plastic that I can't seem to remember where it goes. I think it probably goes in the trashed center area.
