Title: AKI and SJC update
Post by: daveb on April 09, 2004, 04:06:41 pm
Hi Guys,
I've got a few AKI related updates for you here...
First, due to a slight windows 98 problem, the reporting of the buttons has been modified.. From now on, AKI reports Joystick 1 as a 3-axis 7-button joystick, and Joystick 2 is reported as a 2-axis and 7-button stick.  The total is still 5 axes, and 14 buttons.  Also, unfortunately there's been an unforseen increase in production costs... I hate to do this, but AKI will now cost $32.99.  I hope nobody is too disappointed.

As for the SJC 49-way interfece, there have been problems getting it to be able to use 2 sticks at the same time.  Right now, the specs are 1 joystick (Happ's or original Sinistar via. autodetection), 10 buttons, and support for an external switch to change between linear/exponential scaling of axis values (this was a requested feature that is better for Sinistar).  It should be ready in a week or so.

As usual, let me know if you have questions, comments, or suggestions! :)

Oh! I almost forgot the main reason for the post!!  I received my NYS vendor's certificate, so I am now officially open for business!  The site should be updated to reflect this shortly.

Take care everyone,

Dave B.  (http://dave.bit2000.com)

Is it still an issue if you just use XP?

Nope, it's only a problem with '98.
Since the buttons can be used however the user wants to in MAME, I thought it would be best to split them to fix this issue.
