Does anyone know if the Macally USB trackballs can be used on a PC? I have e-mailed their tech support, but no response. Their link is www.macally.com and they have some very keen trackballs that might convert nicely to an arcade trackball.

Yep, I have one of those translucent blue ones, says Mac all over the package and on the back of the trackball, but it works just fine for me in Windows XP.

Thanks for the info. Let's see what their official tech support says.

Additionally, does the translucent trackball have internal lighting? Or does it just appear that way in photos?
Thanks,

Not to the best of my knowledge.
The ones I bought (iBall) don't, and I know the "new" version (iBall Pro) that was replacing the ones I bought didn't.
They may have a new lighted version, but I haven't seen it yet if they do.
They are really easy to light up if you mount them in a case, or CP, though.
You can basically just put a light below them because the case and everything is translucent.
I HAD mine lighting up with the "neon" strip from around a case fan until the ribbon broke from swapping CP's.
It broke it in another spot while I was removing it to solder it, so I threw it away.
I'm planning to go with wedge lights the next time.
They are alot more durable.

I have this trackball too. Works fine in Windows.
I don't think it's a real replacement for an arcade trackball though. It won't roll so much.
Nannu built a cab where he used this trackball. See pics of the way it was mounted (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=13366;start=msg112807#msg112807) and pics of the finished look with lighting (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=13366;start=40)

I received an e-mail from Macally confirming their products are for both PC's and Macs.
Just an FYI.
