Title: Flipping the windows display?
Post by: tep0583 on April 08, 2004, 08:29:15 am
I'm finishing up my first cab, which is an older mirror-style cab. The problem I'm running into is that the display is upside-down, if I put the TV in there in the position that it fits best. Even if I rotate it, the display will be correct vertically, but reverced horizontially. I can correct this in-game through MAME, but not in the game-selection screen of Mamewah. The newer versions of Nvidia's drivers do allow me to rotate the screen, but this will only fix one axis.

Basically, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to correct this through Windows, so I don't have to use the flip y command when starting games and so the game list is easier to read.

I don't think you'll find a software solution to do this, you need to modify the TV to do this, It's not that hard.

The easiest way to do this is to switch the wires going to your Monitor's tube. There are 4 wires,  yellow/green , and blue/ red, I think you need to switch them to be green/yellow , red/ blue. This will reverse the directions of the horizontal and vertical scans, and make the image appear correct in the mirror.

To my knowledge, ArcadeOs will flip and reverse the menu, just in case you don't want to change your tv wiring.

I know the wires you're talking about. I'll take a look to see if that looks like a viable solution.

Thanks.

I'll take a look at Arcade OS also. Might be easier than moding the TV....

Thanks.

FWIW, the switching of the wires in the tv isn't hard at all and it's completely reversable.  I've done it a couple times on tv's attempting to make one of those 144" projection tv kits you always see on ebay :P  What a waste of time!  The projection thing that is, not the switching of the wires...

You guys are awesome!

Switching the green/yellow pair worked like a charm! Took me all of about five minutes to do and it works great.

Thanks to all for the replies.
