How do I set up mame to run games like pac-man, etc. to run in "vertical mode" (i.e. the monitor tilted 90 degrees to utilize the full screen length)?

In the Windows version, you can edit the MAME.INI by going down to the Core Video Options and will see something called "ror" or "rol". By setting either one of the values to a "1" the games will rotate in that direction. In order to create the MAME.INI, go to DOS prompt and type in , mame -createconfig then edit the MAME.INI file

MAME -ror, or MAME -rol for the DOS version

once mame is loaded(.61) select Options then Default Options then choose your rotation under Rotation category.
I had the same issue but didn't realize it was that simple.
Thank goodness. Now I'm enjoying my games more because ot it.
Good luck.
