i'm looking to find an old arcade cabinet in fort worth/dallas area i can turn into a MAME machine.

Try http://www.superauctions.com (http://www.superauctions.com) They have regular auctions in the DFW area, and generally they have some dead machines you can use for MAME.

If you can get a working generic JAMMA cabinet with a nice 25" monitor, you're 3/4 of the way to having a MAME cabinet.

Don't get ripped off by Mr. Do-Rag! :)

just talked to a guy here in Austin...... if ya dont mind the drive.... he has a very nice q-bert cab.... that only
has the cp on it... but the rest of the cab is solid with no water damage and overall in great shape.  He is asking
$50 for it... and he also has a  williams cab (ie joust,defender,stargate) that is also in great shape but has
no cp or side art but the coin door is complete except for one coinmech.  He wants $75 for it and I must say
that I have been tempted by it......

hmmm tomorrow being good friday .... I know that this guy will be closed and im thinking he is closed on sat.
as well...... so I will have to know with  the hour.... to that i can pick it up...
