I have had my SlikStik Classic for about 2-3 months now. It has the 4-player IPAC inside. I recently upgraded the IPAC EPROM

I would definitely email Andy about this. He does check out this board but probably not as regularly as you're hoping. I haven't heard of this problem before so I can only suggest emailing him.
Good luck

You are postive sure you have all the grounds on the joystick right?

No grounds on P360's, FWIW!

yeah, no grounds on P360's. And I am sure that the joys are hooked up right, because up,down, left, right (UDLR) all work well.
I dont think it is a problem with the joy because, like I said in original post, I swapped joys and still same problem. When I map UDLR to the arrow keys, WinIPAC does not show me any diagonals. When I map UDLR to any other keys (such as YNGJ), the WinIPAC software shows me that all of the diagonals function great.
Also, if I hold down the up arrow on the keyboard and then hold down the right arrow, I should see a "up-right" diagonal. If the directionals are mapped to the arrows, even the keyboard arrow keys will not show a diagonal in the WinIPAC software. If I remap UDLR to any other keys (such as YNGJ), reprogram the IPAC, and then depress Y (up) and then J (right), I DO get the "up-right" diagonal.
Summary:
- With directionals mapped to the 4 arrow keys, the WinIPAC software does not register a diagonal on P1 with the joy or the keyboard
- With the directionals mapped to YNGJ, I CAN register a diagonal on P1 with the joy and the keyboard
Maybe the WinIPAC software just doesnt see it the diagonal or report the diagonal correctly?? Maybe I will go home and launch a good 8-way game and see if it works OK. Like SmashTV. Start running "down", and then switch to diagonal "down-right" or "down-left". Does the guy follow suit?
Any more ideas would be appreciated. Weird,
FJ

unplug the controls from the joystick to the ipac.
Then cross them by hand...
I'm guessing its the wiring... but there isn't much you can do..
With microswitchs.. if you take the NO from one microswitch into the ground of the next... it works but you can't do more then one at a time. I don't know if 360's can do this (never used one)
good luck

If it works when the I-PAC is set to one key, but doesn't work when the I-PAC is set to the arrow keys, it's not the wiring.
Things to try -
Just out of curiosity - if you program the joystick to UP, Right, Down, and Left, diagonals don't work, but YNGJ does - What if you program it to Up,J,Down,N (Curious if it's a buffer problem with all the arrow keys, or something different).
Program the I-PAC to the arrow keys and get Ghostkey or KeyHook from http://www.arcadecontrols.com/arcade_downloads.shtml#Utilities Move the joystick and see if the diagonals register - If yes, the I-PAC is working, but the I-PAC software isn't picking up the keypresses. If no, then the I-PAC is not sending the proper keypresses to any program.

I started out and tried to play SmashTV. The diiagonals are working great!! I can run in bothclockwise circles and counterclockwise circles. I then wentr immediately back to WinIPAC, and still no diagonals are registering.
I then downloaded and tried Ghostkey. Diagonals look great. Back to WinIPAC, still funky.
I downloaded Keyhook. This proggy only registers one key at a time.
I downloaded something else from our download page called Virtua Keyboard. Displays a keyboard on screen and highlights what is being pressed. Diagonals work great. Back to WinIPAC, still funky.
Guess my IPAC and joy works OK after all. I guess its a little bug with the new WinIPAC software. I'll probably e-mail Andy and let him know.
Thanks for the help Tiger,

No Problem, glad it worked out!

glad you got it to work. I thought we a missing the obvious that maybe the actuator is reverse on the p360.
