I'm trying to mount some leaf switch buttons, but I think I'm either missing something or not understanding how to mount them properly. Each button I have is 4 pieces (as illustrated): the pushbutton, the pushbutton holder, the leaf switch, and a pal nut.
I have the short buttons and I'm trying to mount it on 1/2" ply, but if I put the pushbotton holder flush to the ply, the stem of the button pushes the leaf switch closed. In other words, the button is always pushed (see image).
It looks like I need some sort of spacer to move the pushbutton holder away from the plywood, but I've never seen any reference to that and it goes counter to what I've read about the short buttons being almost too small to mount on wood.
Is the pushbutton holder supposed to be flush against the panel. If not what do you use to act as a spacer? Or am I supposed to use a second PAL nut to secure the push button away from the panel?

If you scroll down at The Real Bob Roberts (http://www.therealbobroberts.com) website, they have some really good pics of different installs.
They are in Big Bear's Message Bulletin Board section, under Leaf Switch and Button Solutions.

Where did you order your buttons from? I ordered the long leafs from Bob Roberts and I got spacers with each button. If I don't use them I'd be more than happy to send them to you, although you could probably just make some as well.

Nailz:
Thanks for the offer but I've got some material to make some spacers. I just got confused because I ordered my buttons from WICO and nowhere does it mention spacers so I thought I was doing something wrong.
