Ok, I want to order some bits and bobs from Happs, but am not to sure what postage mechanism to select (as they offer a plethora).
I though I might get an answer quicker here, than from them (I have emailed them).
Basically what I am after is standard international airmail (to sydney, australia).
So what do I pick from those listed below ? (I listed them all to show how many they list, I realise some of them are completely not applicable).
Has anyone outside the US ordered from their recently ? What method di you pick ?
UPS Ground - Standard Shipping
UPS Red - Next Day Air
UPS Blue - 2nd Day Air
UPS Orange - 3 Day Select
Federal Express - Priority 1
Federal Express - International Priority
Federal Express - 2 day
Federal Express - Saver 3 day
Federal Express Economy - International
DHL
Overnight - Express Mail
Air Freight - Other Must specify Carrier Name
Sea Freight - Other Must specify Carrier Name
Truck - Other Must specify Carrier Name
+ numerous pick up options.
Cheers

I'm in the USA and I don't know if this will help or not but I'll just throw it out there anyway. Someone might find the info useful...
Ultimarc shipped my order from the UK to here in the USA using DHL as the carrier. The shipping was about $15us. I have no complaints. Arrived quickly in good shape.
I also ordered about 500 posters (rock music related) from a company in the UK. They shipped my order using FedEx. They said that the reason they only use FedEx was that they get less hassle with customs when they use FedEx. Again, no problems.

Also, if you are in Sydney then you might want to consider ordering from an AU based Amusement company. The prices MIGHT be higher, but at least you won't get stuck with huge shipping and/or customs fees.

joe - I'm from Perth, Australia and ordered all of my parts from overseas. I tried to get as much from www.therealbobroberts.com as possible but I still needed to buy from Happs. They didn't respond to any emails of faxes that I sent asking about shipping prices - it was only after I bit the bullet and ordered the optical rotaries that they told me the shipping costs. With the strength of the $AU at the moment, it is cheaper to purchase overseas. Note that the joysticks from Happs are not like the ones we get here in Oz. I would first check out the prices at Bob Roberts, then check out Ozstick (www.ozstick.com.au) then Happs as a last resort. If you know what you want Bob can sometimes give an estimate of shipping. But I think I used FedEx international for shipping when I eventually ordered the 2 sticks and it was quite pricey.

Hey cdbrown, how did you pay for your stuff from therealbobroberts ?
I just checked his prices (way better than happs) and read his FAQ. Dd you send a bank draft in $US.
I have to admit, I hate sending cheques / money orders / bank drafts through the mail, especially overseas, but will do so if I have to (especially at those prices).
An if bob can only 'sometimes' give an estimate of the shipping cost, how do you know how much to make the bank draft out for ?
Cheers for any help.

I think I sent him a bank draft. I confirmed exactly what I wanted to buy and he then sent me a total price including shipping. Sent it by registered post and he got it after about 5 days. He then sent my package straight away. It was a good to see the package sitting on my desk after coming back from work.
