It seems like in the past I've seen a few people mention online sources for plastic sheet but I can't find them again.
Anyone getting stuff by mail? Where? You have any problems getting large 4x8 sheets sent ($$)? What about getting stuff cut?
The local shops are killing me (eg. $230 for a 4x8 sheet of 1/8 Lexan).
Thanks!

do you really need a 4 x 8 sheet of lexan ??...
sorry.... not much help here...
but I usually go to HD or lowes...
or go to plastic shop locally....
but even online... I don't think a 4 x 8 lexan will be cheap...
and UPS will love you... (that's if they accept your order....)

That is like asking "Dude, how come I can't order lumber online?".
Lexan and plexi are standard building materials, and should be available at multiple, multiple, multiple locations no matter WHERE you live Lowes, Home Depot, almost every hardware store.

Aw, you guys are no help. :P

Not really. I need two 3x3 ft sheets.
or go to plastic shop locally....
Note the price I quoted above for the cheapist local shop I could find.

Certainly cheaper than $230. And yeah, UPS/FedEx isn't going to ship a 4x8 sheet without using freight ($$). It would have to be by truck. However, they can ship something like my 3x3 ft stuff, for around $30 (FedEx). It isn't too expensive.

Hardly. I know for a fact you can order plastic sheet like I want online. I've seen the sites but as I mentioned I can't remember what they were.

Depends. At the local chain stores like Lowes they don't carry any Lexan at all. At least nothing thicker than a plastic bag. They don't even carry any decent sheet metal. I'm sure some stores carry it, not here though. Besides, I have yet to meet someone there who didn't think Lexan and Plexiglass are the same thing.
As for the other places (glass shops and such), well as I mentioned they're totally ripping me off. Come on, a 4x8 1/8 Lexan sheet for $230? No way, it should be half that. That's the cheapist of the local shops.
Besides, I was asking about online places anyway.
I'm going to try US Plastic and see how they do.

Did you see the advertisements on top of this page. They seem to match the stuff that's written on the page. I have seen several Lexan sellers in there.

But Dude, you CAN order lumber online! Right here! (http://www.rockler.com/wood.cfm?&User_ID=21832282)
I think he's just looking for a less expensive way to pick it up. Dunno why he needs a 4x8 sheet, but who am I to say....mebbe he's got a phatty-phat rotating marquee/monitor/CP/seat combo we've never thought of and he needs this much plexi to do it. Meh.

ok.... I just see a bunch of plastic ads....
donno if its lexan... and donno if it ships to your place...
but you might be able to check them out...
or get some keywords and use it to google for other sites...
not exactly very helpful... but hopefully... better than nothing...
