....this seems like it's an amazing and well priced product for MAMEers assuming the specs are real--
http://extreme.pcvsconsole.com/view.php?news=2298
Apex claims that their new ($399. retail) console will be a PVR, PC Gaming console, MP3 Jukebox and more.
All of this will run off of an embedded Windows operating system. Even if the "normal" MAME doesn't run in this thing, I'm sure one of the MAME programming gurus will jump on this thing and rework the code so that it will run MAME.
This could revolutionize the spread of MAME as we know it.
If this is real, hell I'll buy one just to play on my 36" TV in my living room!

And you think that is a good thing because . . . .
Thanks for the info though!

....well, it could take MAME into a more mainstream environment resulting in more emulation, better products and potentially lower costs.
...theoretically that is.

Taking MAME into the mainstream environment = Taking MAME into the mainstream legal system, IMO.

That is what I was subtly getting at!

...don't get me wrong...I understand the concern....but we can't hope to "hide" mame forever!

Believe me, it's not hidden.
One of our burners burned a set not long ago for a major arcade company. He thought @ first it was a trick, but it wasn't.

Which arcade company, and what do you presume their plans are?
