Title: Hacking a scart cable?
Post by: jlampc on March 25, 2004, 03:11:25 am
Can I hack a Dreamcast scart cable to work with a 15khz arcade monitor? Someone gave me a free one for a dreamcast.  Would it be better to buy a VGA box and mod that instead.

It would be much easier to just hack a VGA box (as per instructions in the Game Console FAQ on this site http://www.arcadecontrols.com/arcade_consoles.shtml (http://www.arcadecontrols.com/arcade_consoles.shtml)).

You could also attempt to hack the SCART cable, but must be aware of several things.  First there are two different types of SCART cable (euro and japanese)...need to figure out which you have, and then hack accordingly.  Also depending upon your monitor, you will most likely need to split out the sync from the composite video signal and make an LM1881 circuit...again instructions in the faq, but here are two links for you:
