I have a lot of ZIP files (4000+) which I would like to unzip at once time instead of clicking each one individually and selecting Extract. Is there a way to select all files and extract to the same place?

Get and install Filzip. It's freeware. Enable the shell extensions. Put all your zip files in the same directory (easier.) Select all the files and right-click on them and select Filzip-Extract To. Specify a destination directory, ensure "Same Directory" is selected, click ok and wait for it to finish.

Thanks a lot. What a big help.....

winzip can unzip multiple files at once... select the files in windows explorer (ctrl + a will select all files) then right-click in the selection. there should be some winzip options... extract to here, extract to folder... etc...

Just curious...
It looks like you're unzipping all your ROM files. Why?

winRAR does a great job of this as well...

Wondering the same thing myself.

Side question:
How would you zip multiple files into seperate zip archives?

Doesn't that open multiple sessions of winzip, which then you have to manually close?

No.

WinRAR can do that... Select all the files, right click, then select winrar -> add to archive. Then in winrar on the "files" tab check "put each file to separate archive" you can even change the compression type to zip instead of rar if you desire...

As an FYI, there's also this:

I use it within batch scripts.

The Atari2600, 5200, 7800 and NES Roms are all zipped, but needto be unzipped to the BIN or NES file extensions instead. Of course for Mame I keep everything Zipped.
In WinZip, I could not find out how to extract multiple files. It kept opening separate WinZip windows for each ZIP file I wanted to open and I did have to close each one individually.
I did not think of looking into WinRAR. Anyway, FilZip works great....

I use WinRAR, it's very good. :)
