Title: Is there any multi player 270 steering wheel games?
Post by: GGKoul on March 23, 2004, 10:06:00 am
Hello

I know there's lots of multi player 360 steering wheel games available.  But is there any multi player 270 steering wheel games?

As I'm planning on building 2 different panels, 1 - with 270 wheels and another with 360 wheels.  And I'm wondering if there is any multi player 270 wheel games.  So I can decide how many 270 wheels to add.

Also, is there any 2 player yoke stick games out there as well.

Thanks!!

Good question :)

There are many multi-player 270deg wheel games....but most of them use multiple cabinets (think of just about all racing games since Daytona, and some besides).

I can't think of any that use the same cabinet tho.  Most 270deg games are either chase or in-car view which would require split screen, and I don't recall any split screen arcade racing games.  (I'm sure someone here can think of one...:) )

Personally I think you'd be fine with just 1 270deg wheel:  I think of OutRun, ChaseHQ series etc. - all 1 player games.

This came up in a previous thread on Logitech GP wheels.

Basically, in arcade games, no - the few that were multiple player were separate cabs linked together and so you could maybe use that networked MAME version whenever they get emulated.

The exception is console games b/c there were a number of console systems that has multiplayer analog games - mario cart on the N64, or several Playstation and X-box games.

Thanks for the prompt replies.  I just I one need to mount 1 yoke for the time being...  Now I just wish they would fix some of the F1 racing games in Mame.

I cant wait for the networked MAME to come out...

Networked MAME is out - Killera or sth(?).  I just don't think the multi-cabinet driving games are emulated yet. . .

ChaseHQ series is 360 wheel, and Spy Hunter 2 is crap. not worth supporting.

Heck, most collectors/vendors given  a mint fully working Spy Hunter 2 would part it out.

You're right...for some reason I always thinks it is a 270deg one, perhaps because MAME uses AD Stick as the input, not dial...which is odd.

Still, good game tho  ::)

Spy Hunter 2 has to rate as one of the worst sequels ever. Back in the day I concidered RoadBlasters to be the "real" sequel to Spy Hunter.
