I've been looking for this answer but have been unable to find an answer, so I've turned to you guys/gals. I need to know if you can mount a dreamcast in a vertical position. I am unable to find a satisfactory position on my cabinet for it. I figure if I can mount it vertically, I could attach it to the side of the cabinet. if you've seen some of my other posts, you will see I have a sitdown cabinet (virtual-on). I plan on putting in a dreamcast steering wheel and an arcade fighter panel.
Let me know if It will work on the up and down ;)

I don't see why it wouldn't, as long as you've got it mounted securely.

Operationally there shouldn't be a problem mounting it vertically. You could probably make a mounting bracket which uses the 4 slots on the underside of the DC (if you used some thin aluminum and cut the tabs with tin-snips. This was supposed to be used to securley connect the never release Dreamcast Zip drive to the bottom of the DC.

I was planning on putting mine on a shelf behind the coin door and over the MAME PC which is sitting on the bottom panel of a stand-up cab. Now you got me thinking about a vertical mount to save some trouble (or maybe make more?). It should work given that the CD is held in place at the hub and the lens mechanism normally does not rely on gravity. I'd be interested to hear how it works out for you.

all you have to do to test it is....
put your dc on its side, (the side without the cooling hole) and run it for a while see how it does. should be fine.
