Title: need help with mame button reassignment for UMK3
Post by: krick on March 21, 2004, 02:19:21 am
I'm using MAME 0.80 for Win32.

I've just added some buttons to my control panel and I now have a standard CAPCOM SF2 layout.

123
456

which maps to...

LP MP HP
LK MK HK

(L=light, M=medium, H=heavy, P=punch, K=kick)

When I try to play Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, the button arrangement isn't right and I'd like to change it.

Currently, the default MAME setup is this...

HP BL HK
LP LK RN

(H=high, L=low, P=punch, K=kick, BK=block, RN=run)

I want it to be like this...

HP BK HK
LP RN LK

I know there is some way to do it with a file named umk3.ini but I don't know where to put it and how to make MAME use it.

Can someone help me?  Or at the least, point me at clear step-by-step instructions on the web on how to set this up.

Never mind.  I figured it out by piecing together scraps of information from other posts.
