Title: Looking for MS Sidewinder Dual Strike or equivalent
Post by: GamingGreg on March 17, 2004, 07:40:56 pm
A lot has been said on this board about the Microsoft Sidewinder Dual Strike joystick, and it's "hackability".  However does anyone know where I can find one?  I can't seem to find anything in local stores or online.

If I can't locate a Dual Strike, then can anyone suggest another cheap USB joystick (< $20 US), that might work.  It would be nice if 5K pots could be used, but even 100K would be fine.  Ideas?

I obviously don't care what it looks like, as all I want is the internals.  Also, I should also mention that it will need to support 4 buttons.  (I'm thinking of building a Star Wars yoke similar to Menace's)

I got a NOS one off of Ebay for $6 a few months ago.

There are several out there now.

Yep, E-bay is your friend (Dual Strikes were discontinued a couple of years ago).

Another option would be Daveb's interface for $30 (in beta testing now).  Will handle up to 5 axes and 15 buttons and could be done as a modular thing so you plug in what you want:

it just like the dual shock controller for playstation.  it has 2 analog sticks which makes 4 axis.  and the best part they are only $10.  I have no idea what the pot values are though but I think it would be great for interfacing some T2 guns  ;D
