I've tried the text tool in Illustrator and I can't get it to work. As I see no text on my screen. I played with the layers and I still can't it going.
What am I doing wrong?

What version are you using? If you're using the version from the CS Package, the Illustrator in that version is missing most of it's features, although I don't think the text tool is one of them but who knows. If that's not the problem then maybe your typing white text? Or the font you're using is invalid and doesn't show up? Just some suggestions..

I'm using v10. The one before CS.

Hello?? Can anybody help?
-
It's pretty straitforward.
If you hit the plain "T" tool click it anywhere on the canvas, and start typing, you will see type, unless;
1. Your type is the same color as the background
2. Your font is corrupt, in which case, choose another font.
If you are using the T tools that are either enclosed in a box, or that have a line underneath them, they do not apply unless you are filling an object with type, or tying type to a line/curve.
Like I said, you have to click the T tool and then click anywhere on a layer that isn't locked.

Oh F#$K
It appears the TRON font that I got from your website is corrupt. As I wasn't able to type with that font. But when I changed to a different font, I was able to type.

If you are using a Mac, it seems they can't use any of those arcade fonts.
As far as PCs... your guess is as good as mine. I haven't used any of those fonts on my PC.

I'm on a PC.
Question:
How do I squeeze the top of the word? Similar to those ARCADE & DEFENDER marquees?
-
I got the squeeze thing working now...
Man, I'm getting dangerous with Illustrator now!!
