Title: New cabinet-Rotary control help! Questions
Post by: Demon-Seed on March 16, 2004, 06:13:41 am
Hi
I just bought a cabinet (a real one) and plan on making an all new cabinet. I am interested in having rotating controls not sure how to do it.. anyone advise? you would need seprate ipacs for each one? or something a switch? anyone done it? please post websites, faqs or other info.

Control panel questions- trackball?? whats its purpose.. i just do not see the need. or joysticks? like fighter?... what about a terminator gun can those be used?

XBOX/PS2/DC- I am interested in adding these as well.. can they be played on a pc monitor?

thanks in advance
Jim ;D

you will only need 1 ipac for a rotating control panel because the wires can run from one panel to the other inside the enclosure.

and trackballs are needed for trackball games, some of the better ones are millipede, marble madness, bowling games, golden tee, too many to list.  If you have mame32, open it up and organize the roms by wether or not they use a trackball, go through the list and see if there's anything you like on the list, chances are the games that use a trackball will be much more fun with one...

See http://www.1uparcade.com/  He also has information on the terminator guns.  Basically these function like an analog joystick, so you need to hack a joystick to interface them.

Not easily, you could run emulators for these systems, but they are not very far along yet, otherwise, your best option is to run a TV-out card to a TV.  Also, you would need to hack a controller from each system to connect to these, and use some type of quick-disconnect to connect the panel to either the computer or each individual console.
