Title: LOOKING FOR COIN MECHS to hookup to Mame32. Will pay via PAYPAL.
Post by: marknetwork on March 14, 2004, 08:13:10 pm
Hello,

I am setting up a MAME arcade and have an old arcade cabinet I will be using.  It has the coin doors but I need everything else.  I will be using Mame32 to run the games and the controls will be used through x-arcade dual controls.

I need to setup the coin mech to somehow send out an electrical pulse using a microswitch or something to link directly into the xarcade like here:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/chris.nightingale1/arcades/coinboxmainpage.htm

I have the dual coin door, but I need the coin mechs with the microswitches or something to have the wires connect.

SO far I just have:
- coin door

Please let me know if anyone has anything to help!  I need the full setup. :)  I WILL PAY BY PAYPAL!!

Thanks,
Mark

Also if anyone can just share the information on how to set this all up and what kind of mechs I need that would be greatly appreciated as well!

Thanks,
Mark

Mechs are a standard size so any mechs should do (Hint:  I have a listing on this board for token mechs w/ tokens, and so a few other people).  Your coin door should have microswitches aready under where the coin mechs fit in.  All the coin mech does is determine if a coin matches a certain size and weight.  If it does, it drops through one part of the coin mech, tripping a switch there.  If it doesn't match, it drops through another section to fall into the return tray.  If you have access to a digital camera and can take a picture of your coin door, I can see if you've got all the necessary parts.

Hello,

Thanks for such a fast reply! :) I wish I could take a pic of the coindoor but I'm getting the whole cabinet in a week.  I have the computer set up but the cabinet is being delivered by a couple buddies.  I got it free because it stopped working after the house it was in was hit by lightning.  I dont know if the switches will work or not.

Do your coin mechs accept any size coins or just the tokens?

Thanks,
Mark

The switches *should* be okay, lightning more than likely won't have damaged them.  The coin mechs I have only accept tokens, which I include.  I also have a few quarter mechs.  You can modify the mechs to take anything that is dropped in them, but honestly, what's the fun in that?

Hey,

I think it would be a good idea just to start with new microswitches and new mechs.  What else is needed?

Thanks,
Mark
