is there some kind of step by step tutorial for mamewah? i looked around and cant find one and im having trouble getting it to work. I installed mamewah, got newest mame windows and put it in the same folder, put some roms in the roms folder and used mamewah setup program to specify the rom path and when i start mamewah it says no roms found. i dont know how to get to any options inside mamewah either, i looked in the readme it explains what each option is.. how do i get to the options??

thanks that got me up and running, i got a problem now though. when i select a rom and hit 1 to start it, it says loading rom... and sits there forever. and if i alt tab and close mamewah it says not responding and closes, and then the mame window opens and the game will start... anyone know why this is happening

Try running mame with the show dos box option.
for some games mame display a message and require you hit a key to continue. it does this for my moon patrol.

i am having a problem with mamewah as well, 2 actually.
First when i select a game to run, it brings up the load box and then the screen flashes black and it boots right back to mamewah. It does this for all of my games. These roms are good as they work in mame32. Whats the deal i have all the settings right just how they are in the ss archive tutorial.
Secondly i am having a problem with resolutions and refresh rates. My monitor displays 1024x768 in windows at 100hz. But when i run mamewah in that same resolution it only runs at 60hz. It is quite annoying as when i go back to windows the refresh rate stays at 60hz and screws up my desktop (not to mention making it hard to look at)
Can anyone lend some help here, didnt mean to highjack the thread but i didnt feel the need for another topic on problems with mamewah. thanks

another problem im having, using MAMEWAH with ZSNES. I used mamewah setup program, setup zsnes2 as my 2nd emulator. i can switch to it inside mamewah, and the layout and gamelist show up and i can move through the list, but when i go to hit 1 to load a game it says loading game, and then the loading game screen goes away quick and goes back to list and never loards it. i tried using just plan ZSNES and it works

seph that is the same problem i am having but with mame. anyone know how to fix it?
-
The flashing black and going back to mamewah might be that mame is unhappy with the command line mameah sent it because mamewah was not configured properly: look in the debug.log file in the mamewah directory and see if it looks like what you would expect.
If not sure, cut and paste or retype that line in a dos box and see what happens. chances are you'll get an error message like "path not found" or whatever. If the game starts from the command line, then the problem lies somewhere else.

i setup mamewah on my normal PC to understand it and i got Mame working on it. but when i put it on my arcade PC its having the same problem im having with ZSNES on my normal PC. says loading game, and goes back to mamewah. i checked the debug.log and it looks normal, heres a copy
F:\PROGRA~1\MAMEWAH\ZSNESWV1.36\ZSNESW.EXE F:\PROGRA~1\MAMEWAH\ZSNESWV1.36\CONTRA3
thats what it should be right?

please minwah help me, this is driving me crazy.

You don't have the show DOS Box option set properly in your emu config for mamewah. It should be:
Show DOS Box = 1
-
i do though, i followed this page using mamewah setup
http://uk.geocities.com/david.butler4@btinternet.com/
and my zsnes still doesnt work.... i dont get it ??? ???
also note: i renamed all the extensions on the SNES roms to .smc using the renamer and i set .smc as the file type to look for roms in mamewah setup...
-
what happens when you type the F:\PROGRA~1.... line on the command line? does the emulator start and run the game?
If it does the problem is elsewhere, but you gotta try it, not just look at it and say it looks OK.
I notice that you're not sending the ROM extension but maybe that's OK for the ZSNES emulator, which I have never used. You can change that in mamewah's options. Same with the use of long filenames.

Here is my emu mamewah config for zSNES
Show DOS Box = 1
Send ROM Path = True
Use Long Filenames = False
Send ROM Extension = True
-
hmm ill try those settings octupus. yeah im pretty DOS illiterate if it wasnt working in commandline it would probably be my own fault heh. but ill try that idea too.
-
from the command line in your debug.log, it's pretty obvious you don't have "Send ROM extension" set to True, so I would try that since TalkingOctopus' setup has it set.
-
The 'Send ROM extension' option should be set to true. :-[
My web page is incorrect for some reason. Must have got screwed up when I updated it. I will have to go through and check all the settings again.

Just to third or forth that - you must send the rom extension for ZSNES (& many other emulators).
Sorry I didn't get to the question earlier, haven't been online much...

1) Sound like somethings not setup right. If in doubt delete the contents of your \mamewah\files folder, and start again. All defaults are fine for MAME, so don't change anything - just add your Emulator Executable and ROM Path.
2) All the MAMEWAH standard layouts are set to 60Hz. Open them in the Layout Designer and use the menu to adjust this to 100 or the desired Hz.
I don't know why it stays at 60 when it returns to the desktop. I take it you have v0.963? It was a bug a few versions back...
-
thanks alot minwah ill have to try those out, and yes i do have the latest version of mamewah.
Ill try out your fixes and then report back with my results.
-
ok well i got mamewah to run my games properly and to display the layout in 100hz but i still have a problem.
Even though i got the layout to display in 100hz when i esc back out to the desktop it changes back to 60 hz. What do you think is causing this?
Also how do i set up the controls for mamewah to what i want them to be? Where do i go to specify what key does what in mamewah?
-
thanks guys, i didnt have the send extension thing checked and that fixed it.
truz go to this site and get his mamewah setup utility, it lets you setup mamewah in a GUI. much easier IMO, you can set the keys and stuff with it

Could be a bug, try using a different resolution in MAMEWAH to your desktop. Anyone else have this problem?
