Title: How do you use Photoshop to do 3d work?
Post by: Santoro on March 13, 2004, 12:48:19 pm
I have seen a few folks mention that they used Photoshop to apply artwork to photos of their cabs.  My question is this - is it possible to apply my marquee to this picture:

and keep the proper perspective? I want to replaced the washed-out marquee.  How wuold one do that?

Thanks

That's easy.  You just need to use the "Transform" functions (in the edit menu).  First, paste your marquee to a new layer and select it, then start manipulating it using things like skew, perspective, scale, etc.

I like using the free distort in the transform menu. That usually gets me my results the fastest.

I used Photoshop to apply the artwork to a photo of my cab to produce this:

I did what the other two guys suggested, withone addition. The artwork pieces are all on their own layers. I found that if you lower the opacity of the layers containing the art that they will blend in with the background (pic of cab) much more smoothly. Best I can remember somewhere between 70% & 85% worked best for me.

Thanks guys - sounds pretty straightforward.  I'll give it a shot and report back.
