Does anyone know of a site or a way to generate a report that shows what games use what controls?
ie which use a 4-way joystick, which use an 8 way joystick, trackball, spinner, etc....
thanks..

Have just sent you an email with excel spreadsheet containing rom name, games, players, controller, button, coins. This is not 100% acurate. I can't remember where i got if from but I found it through a link within this forum.

There are some mame front ends that tell you what type of controls are used for each game... arcade@home and emuloader are 2 front ends that I know of that do list what types of controls go with each game.

For those that have requested the file - check your emails as I have sent them.
If anyone could host the file on their website I am happy to send it to them. That way I won't have to email it out to everyone who wants it ;). Let me know if this is possible.
Also - I did not create this file, someone else has but I can't remember who it was to give them the credit.
Cheers

gnat3y3, I'm sending you the file...
Anyone else can download it from:

(until my bandwidth runs out)

typing mame -listinfo > filename will generate an okay output of what games use, with some errors: if the game used two different types of input (say a spinner and a 8way), only one is listed.
Another list near top of this page (http://www.urebelscum.speedhost.com/), not quite what you're looking for, but it lists all inputs for all games. Doesn't say if the joystick is 4way or 8way, but gets around the problem of using -listinfo. However, it has the opposite problem: some games use a common driver that lists all the inputs, but only certain games use certain inputs. So it has too many inputs for some games. Take you pick. ;)
BTW, I tried downloading the gamelist.zip, but looks like bandwidth has been exceeded for a couple hours. Sorry, but I'll try again later.
