Title: Tech-project-soon-to-be-full-cab
Post by: Brocken on March 10, 2004, 11:50:04 am
Built this for my school tech project. It's heavily influenced by GSXRMovistar's contorl panel :)

Going to get round to building the cab for it soon hopefully, need money though ;)

And I know the player buttons aren't the right way up, and the pinball buttons are missing because ultimarc sent me 1 too few buttons :)

There's also a trackball that needs to go in eventually, but I couldn't get one at the time.

Edit: I put image constraints on the pictures to make it easier to see.  The pics are the same, just scaled down.

Looks great, the dude on the CPO kinda looks like he's holding the black button. Good job, can't wait to see the cabinet when you start it!

Nice artwork, clean layout.

Do you have the rest of the machine up and running?

Tech project huh?

It looks good overall. It looks good to the untrained eye, but an arcade freak could make a few improvements.
It's too bad about the carriage bolts you use to clamp on the lexan. I'm not a big fan of big silver fasters on controls panels.... Generally, lexan is flat and stiff and in a home use you're not going to have kiddies trying to pry the stuff up. I prefer to let the buttons clamp the stuff down. It looks much nicer IMHO.
Speaking of lexan, you should really polish the edges. It looks kinda hack.. Zakk has a great tutorial on his website.
Is that button sideways because the contacts are getting in the way of the side or the button next to it? Two choices. If rotating the contacts 180 degrees would help, you can remove the centre part of the button and spin it 180 degrees in its holder. If that won't help, you can bend the contacts of the microswitch straight down so it'll fit in the proper orientation.

Details, details, DETAILS.

If someone doesn't know better you'll get a great mark, if they do.... well, they may think you have some rough edges to clean up. (literally AND figuratively) ;)

That's what I had to do to get my start soldiers to stand at attention.
